I mainly play electric guitar but i do have an acoustic guitar and i'm in need of new strings for it but i've never changed the strings on an acoustic. I know how but i would like to know what is a good brand and size for them.(i play steel not nylon strings btw). So if anybody could recommend some to me that would be great.

Elixir!!

Although fairly expensive (~$16 per set), they have a silk coating wrapped around them that not only feels softer but also lasts for months on end. :)

Great question dude !! I play metal music 95% of the time and can deal with different strings on my Vandenberg. However, my Takamine acoustic is a different beast. I only use D'adarrio Phosohor bronze. I also use medium guage. It is rough trying to play solos, but I do olos on electric. That medium guage rings out on chords. You can't beat it.
