My friends were talking about a mutual buddy they have that uses a AD30HTC Orange head.. and they were saying that he had put some pedals in front of it and added a graphic EQ through the FX loops and he was getting a pretty badass metal tone.

I find that kinda hard to believe.. but I was wondering if any of you guys have heard this sort of thing?

I mean I've heard of thunder and rockerverbs.. but an ad30htc?

Meh, I loved my Tiny Terror, though I never trust anyone who puts more than one pedal in an amp chain for "badass metal tone" (there should be exactly one involved, and it's called a Tube Screamer :D). What about this intrigues you over your Dual Rec?

I don't have my dual rec anymore.. I had to sell it.. I'm picking up a 5150 in the next couple days.. and going to get an ISP decimator.. a ts9 and some new tubes :kickass:

It's just intriguing

ad30 is more of a hardcore convergey sort of tone really...
quite spongy bottom end.

Used a AD30HTC a couple of times at a rehearsal studio. Not really enough gain for metal I think even with a Tubescreamer with the level all the way up in front of it (and I play much lighter stuff than what most guys on here are into) awesome for rock and punk tones though.

Hey, that's cool, a 5150 oughta do ya well! (not as well of course, but what can ya do :D)

Was at the rehearsal studio today and had a shot of the AD30 again. It DOES have enough gain for metal, though by the time you get enough gain it doesn't have the definition needed for metal imo.

As a side note, Peavey XXX into Orange Cab = WIN! (surprisingly enough it didn't seem as dark as I'd thought it would be, though obviously this wasn't under a mic) The mid's on that cab are heavenly.
I'm seriously considering selling my Blackstar to get a Orange after tonight. Though I've never actually rehearsed with the Blackstar so I may have to cart that along and give it a try in the room before doing anything rash. Lol.
