advice on quitting smoking

(nor a swede, in which case the redneck image wouldn't bother you because it would be pretty much nonexistent)

it has never been proven that snus causes any form of cancer fwiw

it is now forbidden to smoke in pubs restaurants

holy shit, they are doing this in Europe now too? I could have sworn this would never have happened there ... people should revolt. Even though I don't smoke, the smell does not bother me and prefer my bars smelly ...

but this chewing tobacco ... it is like anti getting laid nicotine ... that shit is nasty stuff

Patches worked for me the first time. I went cold turkey the second time. Then I started again, but I really should stop. Besides the obvious health issues, it's damned expensive, particularly in the UK where smokes are about $9.00 a pack. I'm on about 30 a day, so that's nearly $5000 a year literally going up in smoke that I could be spending on hookers and porn.

I'm gonna quit on Monday. It's official. Let's see if I can last longer than a month this time :)

snus is NOT chewing tobacco. it is entirely different in nature

Actualy I read an article a couple of weeks back saying snus (which I assume is chewing tobacco yeah?) increased the chance of lip moth and throat cancer 25-fold

Just thought you'd like to know :loco:

Edit: Ok, then if it isn't chewing tobacco that may be different, but hey, still seems more likely you'll get cancer :p

The chest cavity is opened at autopsy to reveal numerous large bullae apparent on the surface of the lungs in a patient dying with emphysema.Bullae are large dilated airspaces that bulge out from beneath the pleura.Emphysema is characterized by a loss of lung parenchyma by destruction of alveoli so that there is permanent dilation of airspaces.

I dont' know if anyone has mentioned it yet but Snus is a good way to quit smoking. Only snus though, not american snuff. You can find more information on the health risks and all that online, but long story short DOCTORS are now recomending Snus as an alternative to smokers wanting to quit cigerettes.

Whatever. As I said, NOTHING has been documented on snus causing cancer. 5 or so years ago ago the boxes used to carry warning labels from the department of health or whatever saying "this product can cause cancer" but they had to remove it cause it just had no bearing on reality whatsoever *shrug*

it's finely ground tobacco mixed with some water and salt and shitz. you roll it to a little ball and put it under your upper lip, and enjoy the imminent feeling of serene euphoria

WTF? LOLZ. There are also quite a few studies out there (mostly from the Swedish Snus association so likely to be somewhat biased) saying it doesn't cause harm, so looks like the jury is still out :)

This isn't true...most of the studies done on Snus where done by companies specificly trying to find that it does in fact cause Cancer, but in the end found just the oposite. Thats why there findings are so intriguing.

Snus is all well and good, but who wants to walk around looking like you're wearing a boxer's gumshield? :)

Also, doesn't the skin in the mouth get affected? Anders, the old drummer from Opeth, has a "hole" in the place where the Snus goes.

cause it looks so much more normal walking around with a 10 cm white roll of tobacco on fire
it might look weird to usians but swedes are used to it
also for wimps you can also buy or make small invisible snuses

ya after a good while but you can't see that from the outside and shit so who really cares.
