Advise me something like early Anathema

Yep. Gothic is a great record (although the production is not that good). My Dying Bride maybe......

i think it's a quite good album, as for a debut. Some really good songs on it. My Oceans Vast is definitely my fave song. Great melodies especially the end part.
One of the albums from that genre that i like.

try katatonia too - old stuff like dance the marbl..hmm..dance of december souls :p not really like early anathema but worth listening..actually i just wanted to mention this great album cos everybody here seems always to forget that katatonia didnt release only their last 2 or 3 albums

CELESTIAL SEASON - 'Solar Lovers' and 'Forever Scarlet Passion'
MORGION - 'Solinari' and 'Among Majestic Ruin'
PARAMAECIUM - 'Exhumed of the Earth'
NOVEMBER'S DOOM - 'Of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers'

Yeah that Enchantment album was excellent and MY Oceans Vast is a superb song-i know just what you mean about the melodies-that guitar just flows through you and the vocals were a bit like Daz-maybe more gruffer.

THey could have gone on to bigger things but one album sadly.

Anyone ever listen to God Forsaken?

I'd recommend Brave Murder Day of Katatonia's older stuff!!

Hmmm... I think I could name up like a quarter of the bandlist on http://www.doom-metal.com/ but what about this: follow the link, go to "Information" and then check the bandlist. You have (short, low quality) samples with most of the bands in there.

But early Paradise Lost and early My Dying Bride would be a good start indeed.

Morgion, Mourning Beloveth, Paramaecium, Evoken, Officium Triste, Insanity Reigns Supreme, etc would be other good stuff to listen to.

I like the production on Gothic. 'Sear Me' from My Dying Brides first album is very similar to early Anathema also.
yes this is true!!!a total rip off and they got the credit cos their album was out earlier and that was the first track on it...they had never done any riffs like that before!!
hail gregor mackintosh:headbang: you wont catch him doing that

Just add ANATHEMA and you have the Unholy Trinity of DOOM!

Oh yeah...forgot Officium Triste....'Ne Vivam' is their work most similar to early Anathema....
