After 100's of songs, and 100's of riffs, I've finally found the greatest riff ever.

The TGP riff was the best ever for a while, but it has lost favor slowly like anything.

I couldn't even begin to name a favorite out of all the music I have. I don't know why I'm posting.

i have to say Nighshade have some pretty good stuff...Lacrima caelisits, moonlight in chaos shines - excellent songs with awesome riffs

A absolute killer riff is Dismember - Dreaming In Red at 2:06 - 2:19 SO AWESOME!!!!!!! i love that rifff! kills that decapitated riff like a 100000000x times...

Most good riffs are those that are heavy and slow, something you can bang your head to.
Like the very end of Davidian (Machine Head) or This Love (Pantera) right after Phil says "No more head trip".

I agree with you those are two great riffs, but the riff that has been kicking my ass lately is an Anthrax riff on Stomp 442, the end of the song Drop the Ball is so fucking heavy it makes me want to throtle throats, also for the best riff ever, I would like to nominate Death for every one of their songs! Chuck is the biggest influence on me and his genius cannot be overlooked!(RIP) And if you want a specific riff from Death, The chorus to Misanthrope will do just fine.

a very "head-bang-ish" riff (not necassarily the best) i always thought was from In Flames - Only For the Weak.
