After the burial

i started the same thread about a month or two ago, do a search dude

i think ryan said he spoke to the guy that did the record and it was done on an e-kit and pod xt 4 guitars

one guitar each side is what justin told me, definately e-kit.

apparently they do this really weird phasing trick with the guitar's so they dont have to use compression to make them louder.

he said something about uhm.. adding three stereo buss's to each guitar in using something to invert the phase over three times. then at some point when you try and and pan it just fucks with the volume and doesn't pan haha!

i don't know, Im not very knowledgeable with the physics of mixing. but thats pretty much what he said.

if i recall he makes a new track with the 2 of the guitars
and then phases em out, and uses the phasing to make shit louder

well whatever they do they get a sick guitar tone for those 8 strings. and i have played a few 8 strings and they seem to sound the best thru moldeling amps instead of tube amps. but im still trying to tweek my amps to be able to sound good with an 8 string.

this album is one of the only album ive heard that reaches the heights of horrible production that only scott burns knows how to reach
and this is why i hate bands that say "FUCK STUDIOS LETS DO IT ALL AT HOME!"
but i suppose we were all once one of those guys, eh :s

DOUBLE POST TIEM AGAIN

what the fucks with that phasing technique?
here's a tip ATB guys
TURN EVERYTHING ELSE DOWN YOU STUPID FUCKS.

Its like meshuggah, only not the same riff for half an hour! :p

Had to shift my gear to a different room, so that meant everything went offline for a bit. Incidentally new room is all bassy and shiz and I cant wait to change it back. :erk:

I remixed the album. Superior 2 drum samples with the same midi files dan drummed on the old version, new vox were recorded w/ an sm7 and a distressor into a soundcraft board. Everything else i used the same files but set different eq's and such. The 3 phase aux was used on the last mix but i dont like that technique, so i didn't use it. It basically lets you phase frequencies like the fredman technique with 2 mics, but its too broad and i'd rather use an eq.
