I was gonna point out how there is some jazz influence in some opeth stuff, but i would rather let blimey look like a fool than have the truth be told.

i am knowledgable when it comes to music. and especially on jazz (counting in at about 200 albums now of jazz)...so please mr. jazz expert, if you could tell me the "jazz" moments of still life, i would love to hear them...for i seemed to have missed them the first 300 times i heard the album

go ahead...im waiting.
you're getting your terms mixed up, mr. reasonable. jazz influence =/= jazz moments.

oh my christ, you dont have ANY idea what the fuck it is youre talking about. there is NO such thing as "jazz influence" without there being "jazz technique" involved. how the fuck else would you identify it? considering the jazz genre is based entirely on its own merit and style with the musicianship involved. Thats like saying deicide doesnt have folk moments, but it has folk influence. biggest fucking ignorant douchebag cop out ive read on here in a long time blimey, congratu-fuckin-lations, you are an absolute nunce. please stfu and leave music to the big boys from now on. kthx go kill yourself.

take it as you will.

jazz MOMENTS are not jazz TECHNIQUES is not jazz INFLUENCE. they are different terms. learn them.

i'm saying opeth is jazz influenced. from martins jazzy drum patterns to mikes jazzy solos, to jazzy guitar passages, there IS a trace of jazz in opeth. to dismiss this is fucking retarded.

then its obvious you have absolutely NO idea what the term "jazzy" even means, not even in your own context of hearing. you think just because its not some 80s hair band derived solo or drum beat, that it must be some sort of "jazz" moment or approach. total bullshit...not happening. if anything, the solos on still life are very blues based, and standard.

to think that is fucking retarded. there are no jazzy drum patterns, solos, or guitar passages, and we're still waiting for you to cite examples

some parts in Opeth can and do remind people of jazz...that's why a few people are like "this is jazzy." but it isn't jazz influenced. I think people get jazz mixed up with blues.
