Jazz was/is quite a big influence on a number of prog bands and so it may not be entirely unfair to think that Opeth is influenced somewhat by jazz, but that raises an interesting question: Who the fuck hasn't been in some way influenced by jazz? Jazz probably has tendrils reaching into virtually any genre. It could even be that some band wanted to reach a level of musical sophistication similar to that of jazz, but that is still something of an influence. Or maybe someone was listening to Sun Ra or Thelonius Monk or something and suddenly got this great idea for a lead guitar part. Who knows?

But what a stupid fucking issue to cunt all over someone else about.

the rest of the blue/white vinyl are just "left overs", and not an official release...

How are they really unofficial though? They were released at the same time, same record company, it was just more or less a limited edition.

I bought 3 because well, I'm starting to listen to more and more vinyl. I'm going to upgrade my turntable setup this summer hopefully. When I was buying it they told me they only had 3 left so I just decided I'd snag all 3 copies since they were only $16 each and I had some money in my PayPal account.

Bought one for playback, one to save, and the other one I'm not sure what I'll do with. Maybe I'll give it to a friend as a present or if I need some cash down the road they'll probably fetch at least more than I paid for it in a few years.

eBay is silly though, people are buying all the current plenty available Agalloch releases for slightly more money you can get it at The End Record's Mailorder... and shipping is free at The End...

jazz MOMENTS are not jazz TECHNIQUES is not jazz INFLUENCE. they are different terms. learn them.

i'm saying opeth is jazz influenced. from martins jazzy drum patterns to mikes jazzy solos, to jazzy guitar passages, there IS a trace of jazz in opeth. to dismiss this is fucking retarded.
