Has there already been a thread discussing this band? Can anybody give me any thoughts on them?

I'm in need of some new bands to listen to. There are several great releases lately, but they are all from well established bands (Isis, Converge, Lamb of God, etc.). Surely there's something new out there . . . .

I heard "The Concept of Hate" I believe. It was okay, sounded a bit like left over material from one of the latest Borknagar albums.

I've heard this once but it'll need a few more listens. It definitely reflects the band member credentials: Arcturus, Solefald, Winds, etc. It was an obvious choice for TER that's for sure, and when you have Lazare singing cleanly throughout, it's either make or break depending on your preference.

@Nate - did you get the promo for Lilitu? Brand new stuff (although well established in the underground) and surprisingly 'fresh' considering an easy description would be "melodic death". I have a feeling you might like Mars de Grises as well, a new band from Chile playing some kind of avante-garde, progressive, funeral doom.

I don't think I have the Lilitu promo. Sometimes I just put a promo in a pile and forget about it, though. Have you reviewed it?

I've been meaning to get Mars de Grises.

What about Hearse? I gave the promo to another reviewer, but I've been reading great reviews of it. Terrorizer gave it a 9/10 a while back.

Not yet, I just talked about it recently in a thread here. I will review it shortly. They are a band that have been getting lots of praise whilst being unsigned for a long, long while (like Woods of Ypres) and now finally, The End picked them up.

I've not heard it, but as long as you like Livva's vocals (not me), it should be interesting based on the write-up's I've read also.

LILITU! I think I reviewed one of their promos before they were signed. Holy crack pipe! Yes, I know who they are. I gave them a high score if I remember. Hmmm . . . I shall look into their full length.

This is the dumbest thing I ever heard considering:

1. it sounds nothing like borknagar (it's actually much better)
2. the songwriters for age of silence and borknagar are completely different
3. the only member of borknagar only writes lyrics and sings for age of silence and has nothing to do with the songwriting
4. the music in age of silence is written by the keyboardist and the guitarists who have nothing to do with borknagar

Also the song is called "concept of haste" not hate ...

lastly, this band rocks your socks off, really original stuff

I wasnt basing my statement about it sounding like Borknagar around the fact that Lars Nedland is in the Band. Ive only heard the one song, and I downloaded it awhile ago. It was named concept of hate on the mp3 tag so dont bitch at me about it. Im listening to it again and I still think it sounds very reminescent of Borknagar especially at 3:00 when it breaks down into a keyboard lead/solo. The vocals arent anything like his work with Borknagar either. Again ive only heard this one song too.

Age of Silence owns! i think the drummer is hellhammer, my fave drummer.

The little I've heard of the disc sounds much more like Lazare's other band (either that or Winds), especially with the clean voice and technological themes...good material but I'm not sure if it expands on the sound explored by their parent bands yet.

I just heard the AoS album last night. I got to the 3rd tracj and had to shut it off because of extreme nausea. IMHO, it is fucking goat-awful.

First of all, stop searcheing the fucking forum for "Age of Silence." That's the first step.

Secondly, start acknowledging other people's opinions. It's what the makes the world go round. Not everyone will like a certain record, to say the least. As soon as you realize this really basic fact of life, MOVE ON. Thank you for your time.

IMHO = In my honest opinion. Take it, and leave it.

Thirdly, this forum is here to be used and I search for the bands I like, so if you have a problem with that then why are you even here.
