i just picked up the last two albums by these brits and i find that while i really enjoy the song structures and clean vocals i absolutely despise the death/black vocals. the extreme vocals that this guy is using sound like a mix of a more horrible version of "principles of evil made flesh" era dani filth style and the most unintelligible death bellows i've ever heard. the death vocals sound so ridiculous that i sometimes get the feeling that these guys may just be parodying death metal in general and at times it almost completely overshadows the more redeeming qualities of this groups style. i'm curious as to what some of you guys think. i'll keep on listening and see how this band grows on me.

Whenever seeing their name I say 'cock' when pronouncing the name.

Dont like them very much, If you dont like "Harsh" vocals there are plenty other bands with good song structures.

I like them. Plus, there are plenty of less intelligible and more amusing vocals than theirs: ever heard Bile ?

The vocals are outstanding. You are wrong. Those are some of the most powerful BM-style vocals I've ever heard. Plenty of bands have DM growls that low.
its not so much the sound of the vocals that bother me as much as the fact that they're really difficult to decipher. sure lots of vocalists can take their voice low but the really good ones can do it and still maintain some clarity. you have to or what would be the point of having lyrics at all? i initially had a problem with nile for the same sort of reason but i kept giving mr. sanders a chance and my ear finally attuned itself to picking words out of lower part of his range. with me you have to find that mix of clarity and brutality or this style of death-vocals end up ruining the music for me. i'm much more partial to style of vocals that akerfelt/ tagtgren used on the bloodbath albums and in most cases with their own respective bands. swano's vocals with edge of sanity work well for me too but i do realize that these are all different takes on the death metal sound so some styles might not always mix well with each other. back to akercocke though; i've had my 3rd listen through of chronozon and still enjoy most of what i'm hearing so i guess that they're not lost on me yet.

I shit myself about eight times and have only had the album two weeks. They are fucking incredible. The deep growls are dumb, but all his other voices capture so much goddamn passion. Especially the talk-chant-singing parts ( "insatiable dark angels... celebrate satan" part the penance is my favorite example). I think they are next to flawless. part god that's for certain.
