Album Top 10 2005

The Mighty One

this is my serious face.
OK people almost another year done.

Don't think there will be a release this month that will make it into my list so...here it is:

1.Biomechanical - The Empires Of The Worlds
2.Nile - Annihilation of The Wicked
3.Outburst - Fair And Balanced ( not quite released)
4.Candlemass - Candlemass

I do expect a release which will probably make it in my list although officially it will be out in 2006. One Man Army will be selling its debut album at their shows opening for CoB and what I've heard so far is definitely yummy. Happy now ? Sorry if only 3 albums were worth it this year.

It was pretty hard to come up with 10. I had about 20 on my list that kicked some serious ass! Here's my list:

Nevermore – This Godless Endeavor
Exodus – Shovel Headed Kill Machine
Biomechanical – The Empires of the Worlds
Kreator – Enemy of God
Novembers Doom – The Pale Haunt Departure
Arch Enemy – Doomsday Machine
Annihilator- Schizo Deluxe
Devildriver – The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand
Soulfly – Dark Ages
Municipal Waste – Hazardous Mutations

Hey here goes - I have a feeling mine will be slightly different from everyone else's....

Dream Theater - Octavarium
Biomechanical - Empires of the Worlds
Alter Bridge - One Day Remains
Audioslave - Out of Exile
U2 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (not their best album ever but still good)
Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger
The Magic Numbers - Magic Numbers

...sorry, I couldn't think of 10 - I haven't heard any of Ghost Reveries yet, so I may change my mind when I hear that...

I loved Mighty Rearranger! I caught him on tour and the whole thing was sublime! Incredible! You liked Octavarium though? It seemed really bland to me.

I agree too (about Mighty Rearranger)... Ya know, I listen to almost ALL metal, but I did happen to pick up Robert Plant's latest. It's by far the best non-metal album I have heard in years. It's very uncommercial sounding compared to most of Plant's solo stuff. The band is great too. It has that cool Zeppelin vibe but is updated and original.

Exactly. I don't think the magic of Led Zep - those 4 guys coming together - will ever be recaptured, but on this cd plant has still managed to put out some real quality music, which - as you say - was missing from alot of his previous stuff. Great CD this one :)

Yeh, some excellent rhythm guitar stuff on Mighty Rearranger, and of course the Plant vocals and the definite Zepellin-reminiscent feel to it all. Yeh I do like Octavarium, although it's one of those albums where it has some great songs and some less good songs. There's no denying that the song Octavarium itself kicks ass and is a prog masterpiece.

1.Mars Volta-Frances the Mute
2.Biomechanical-Empires of The World
3.Frameshift-An Absence of Empathy
4.Beyond Twilight-Section X
5.Seiges Even-The Art of Navigating by the Stars
6.Stream of Passion-Embrace the Strorm
7.Kino-Picture
8.Opeth-Ghost Reveries
9.Ra-Duality
10.Pagan's Mind-Enigmatic Calling

could easily pick another 10-15 good releases though.

SYL, Non Human Level and Riverside just missed out.

I bought the Evergrey Album. That truely does rule. I haven't got Empires of the World yet but I'm planning to purchase it this weekend. I love the video/single though.

Good choice, Empires Rules. If you're a Rush fan though (which I presume you are given your name) you might start with Eight Moons as it is less heavy and quite a lot more accessible to general rock fans as opposed to complete-nutcase-metal fans. :headbang: :Spin: :headbang:

I have not heard Evergrey, but I will know to avoid them now.

Btw, Welcome to the forums. (hehe, I stole Existenz's line!!)
