You rated this 5 stars by the 2nd post, didn't you?

Does Chromatose know you're sucking someone ELSE'S dick as well? Jeez, you do get around.

Eh, I haven't rated it yet, however just to spite you and because its a thread of GOOD TASTE, I will.

Earth "Hex or Printing in the Infernal Method"
Manilla Road "Gates of Fire"
Sunn O))) "Black1"
Thee Plague of Gentlemen "Primula Pestis"

I really suggest you give these some more spins! Especially Manilla Road and Earth. As far as "Gates of Fire", I think Riddle of Steel is actually one of my least favourites, so you could be very pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the rest of the disc. The mellower songs in particular rule quite a bit.

Of the Wand and the Moon "Sonnenheim"

I've actually heard this is a bit of a letdown, and this is from a big, big fan. Definitely not judging til I own it myself. The guy probably just said it sucked 'cause it's not as dark as the others.

The To-Listen list is better than the actual top whatever. That said, it's one of the most consistent selections I've seen from that board, along with Dev's and mine, of course.

This year didn't offer much to me, I mainly focused to get Norvegian BM as a lot of the oldies were re-released on vinyl.

2005
Green Carnation - The Acoustic Verses CD
ShamRain: Someplace Else CD
Shining: The Eerie Cold LP
Taake - Hordaland Doedskvad LP
V/A: Crushing The Holy Trinity (Clandestine Blaze, Deathspell Omega, Exordium, Mgla, Musta Surma, Stabat Mater) 3LP
Manes: 1993-1994 LP
Ondskapt: Dödens Evangelium DLP
Pest: In Total Contempt LP
Deathspell Omega: Kénôse MLP
Drudkh: The Swan Road LP

Also good, but something was still missing:

Horna: Envaatnags Eflos Solf Esgantaavne DLP
Satanic Warmaster: Carelian Satanist Madness LP
Glorior Belli: O Laûdate Dominus CD
Perdition: Piaculum MCD

Yeah cause I'm an O-L :loco:

You need to focus on "Mond" for a while. It's addictive .

GRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMM..

3. Primordial "The Gathering Wilderness" - this is about where I'll have this CD.
5. Bruce Dickinson "Tyranny of Souls" - not sure if this will make my Top 10.
6. Antimatter "Planetary Confinement" - how does it compare to the last two?
7. Dark Tranquillity "Character" - surprised you have this so high.

Also good to great:
Grand Magus "Wolf's Return" - love this CD, though you'd have it higher

Zod

I'm shocked that you have "Character" in your top 10; I enjoyed it when it came out, listened to it sporadically throughout the year, and then revisited it recently to make sure...and came to the realization that it's not that good. It just isn't.

Also:
no Falkenbach? no Thyrfing? no Drudkh? C'mon Erik, you can do better!

It's better than those. Antimatter just gets better with every album for me. It's their most mature and consistent album yet. Great stuff and probably the album I've listened to most this year.

That new Bruce Dickinson just sucked my balls . . . in a bad way.

Do I need Nokturnal Mortem? All you guys keep talking about them. I hope they aren't as shitty as your Druckh recommendation. That band is just pure cliche.

Skip NM then. Drudkh rules. And if you think Dickinson's album sucked, well, stick to banging pots & pans together over the din of a lawnmower.

Yeah, it certainly is their best album. The Mick Moss tracks on Planetary Confinment are my favourite material released this year. The album as a whole is weakened by Duncan's tracks IMO. So I can't wait for the new album in 2006 written only by Mick.

Chemical Wedding and Accident . . . are two of my favorite metal albums. Period. So my evaluation of Tyranny is probably the most important evaluation you'll ever hear.

I like that pots and pans over a lawn mower idea, though . . .

i think i'm the only dude who doesn't like NM around here, other than that one song from Taste of Victory. to me they are just terribly bland, but don't sound like Drudkh really. who i really dig.

Hmmm, then you've got me confused. I love Tyranny ALMOST as much as those 2, not quite of course, but still, it's a worthy 3rd album (of the only 3 BD records anyone needs IMO).

Let me know how the pots/pans/lawn mower thing works out.

Same here. Tyranny kinda sux in comparison, but you know...
