Speaking of Manowar, saw Diamond Head on tour with Ross The Boss recently. Diamond Head was a full broadside 50 inch long gun volley of NWOBHM badassery. Was precisely a foot removed from Brian Tatler the majority of the show, studied his fretwork and picking hand like the unrepentant colossal nerd I am, same for Ross when he came on. Classic setlist from each, Diamond Head pulled out We're Not Coming Back out of fucking nowhere, rocked my balls clean off. The new frontman, despite being something of a youngster is arguably Sean Harris' equal, both in voice and stage presence. Classic setlist, Am I Evil? frigging roared as the closer. Ross demonstrated why Manowar are half-retarded tools for booting him in '88 within just 20 minutes of playing. He opened with Blood of the Kings, which caught my attention, then chugged right into Death Tone and 10 or so songs later closed with Hail and Kill. He also threw in a surprise number with the title track to Fighting The World. All Manowar setlist, hadn't seen him live playing Manowar since the 80's. On a side note, didn't even know Ross held these views, but someone asked him something about being dependent on something, and he replied with "No, I'm not a liberal, I take responsibility for myself, unlike all the god damn snow flakes out there." Laughed my ass off.
