The only thing that belonged in Kurt's mouth was the shotgun he eventually rammed into it, not a microphone.

Wow. That's awful. You don't enjoy a single Nirvana song? Can't appreciate the lyrics or mood?

This is the guy who worships glam rock bands so I shouldn't be too surprised. Guess he didn't wear enough makeup and women's clothing for you.

Yet people praise the "genius" of his "eloquence" and "poeticism" from here to the ever-loving moon.
"B-b-but H.P.! The metal of the time just wasn't offering that kind of cerebral social commentary and poeticism that Nirvana had!"

"Nope. NOT AT ALL." :p

Seriously though, as someone born at the tail end of the '90s and ended up exploring rock and metal as genres as I grew to like them in the late '00s, Nirvana's place as the "savior of rock music" became a useless and entirely inaccurate title considering that they replaced one type of frustratingly bad rock music (hair metal) with another (modern radio rock like Creed, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, etc.). This opinion was only strengthened by many of Nirvana's "grunge" contemporaries being more interesting musically. Soundgarden, Melvins, and Alice in Chains all had material that I appreciate a hell of a lot more than Nirvana's discography.

"eloquence" and "poeticism"? Not a single person i know has ever used those two words to describe Cobain or Nirvana. They're just a good grunge band. But for some reason everyone always jumps to Nirvana vs metal when he/they are brought up, when the fact of the matter is metal was still going strong and was a competey different subgenre that didn't even cross paths with shit like that. What i am thankful of Nirvana for is putting the final nail in the coffin of that pop/glam rock garbage that was still lingering around like an old rancid fart on the radio stations and tv at the time. And who the fuck listens to grunge, or even metal mainly for the lyrics?

That's like saying that it is a Herculean feat for a big game hunter to shoot a dying elephant in the face.

I don't listen mainly for the lyrics. The issue (for me, anyway) is that so much of Nirvana's praise is on the basis of their lyricism and subject matter when there were bands that were doing those things (as well as general composition and musicianship) to a far better degree than Nirvana was.
