You're absolutely right. In fact, Esoteric is quite easily my least favorite of their work; it's almost unlistenable...plastic sounding...it feigns epicness with annoying cheesy symphonic keyboards instead of doing what Skyfire used to do best (make cool sounding keyboards fit with the flow of songs to develop them in tangential and weird ways, and use guitars styled around harmonizing with the keyboards to create something beyond what either is capable of alone). It was so damn disappointing, especially because the cover art was GREAT!
