Albums currently kicking your ass

Not that there's been a bunch of competition, but this is pretty easily my favorite non metal album released this year. Actually, metal included, it's still probably my favorite album from this year.
 
Boards Of Canada is one of the most important electronic acts of all time, for sure. IDM, like Aphex Twin, Autechre, etc.

First real listen to the band. I knew that people always emphasized the traditional/power elements in their sound, but it's really strong here, in a good way.
 
Is it possible for black metal to be uplifting? Because that's kinda Deafheaven's thing. It's shredding (as in face-shredding, not like power metal shredding), it's abrasive, loud, and intense as fuck, but it's all got like a shine to it that says everything will be okay. It's really an amazing listen.

Deafheaven gets shit on a lot for being hipster black metal, but so what? The end product is fantastic.
