Chris could frigging belt it, pipes of steel
Are you saying he was the most versatile singer of the entire 1990's?
grunge has always been a slightly dubious genre tag, seemed to be more of a 'rock band from seattle' thing than anything particularly concrete. i'm not sure the likes of nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, alice in chains, screaming trees, tad, mudhoney, green river, babes in toyland etc would all consider themselves part of the same movement/sub-genre/whatever, and in fact a lot of these bands refused the tag outright.
I agree grunge is not a well defined term (but neither are many music subgenres). Not sure the rock band from Seattle thing fits either. Aren't STP considered grunge and they're from San Diego. Smashing Pumpkins definitely have some grunge songs and they're from Chicago. Also a lot of bands made both grunge and non grunge songs, making them hard to label.
true, i just meant a lot of seattle bands got lumped into it for no obvious reason beyond their location.

Surprisingly good tbh.
Opposite for me, Dark Roots and Formation seemed totally bland and at least a bit melothrashy, this one had a proper retro style (but without getting repetitious or plagiaristic or anything). But then again, it reminded me more of Exodus than usual, and I like Exodus more than Testament.
And Canna-Business is obviously the greatest song title in their discography.
