Albums currently kicking your ass

Its fantastic and has the best album art I've seen so far this year. Iron Bonehead is currently the best extreme metal label imo.

Toss up between Iron Bonehead and Headsplit Records for me, but I would probably lean towards the former just due to the variety.
And fuck yeah that album cover is so good, it was my avi here for a few months. Fucking amazing man Chris Moyen rules forever.

Groovy, punky, dissonant tech-thrash similar to the first Wachtower and Voivod. Love this demo.

I'm listening to the new album for the ninth time right now and I'm really enjoying it. It sounds different from the first two albums and I like it definitely better than its predecessor. "The Starless Sleep" is luckily the only "commercial" song. My favourite songs thus far are "Into the Fire/Into the Storm", "Medusa Child", "The Sky at the Bottom of the Sea" and "A Kiss (from the End of the World)", not only, but also because of the - mostly distorted - organ-playing, the sound of which I really love. And the relaxing final instrumental "Hurricanes and Halos" is simply beautiful.

I don't see why you wouldn't like loads of other death metal if you like Morbid Angel, though.
Okay, let's do this. I'm in a death metal mood again tonight.

Now is the time to sell me on another band. Be warned, though: I'm very picky, and I don't like "loads" of any metal subgenre because I hate hearing the same ideas repeated over and over.

Probably the main reason I fell in love with Morbid Angel is I heard a ton of ideas across their discography. A diversity of riffs, rhythms, tempos, and (between albums) production styles. There's something unique about every one of their albums, and to me that's very rare for a metal band to achieve while maintaining the level of quality Morbid Angel maintained for most of their career.

Quality aside, though, I'm also in a tiny minority of people who enjoys (at least part of) Illud Divinum Insanus because it's catchy, funny, and unlike any other metal album I know.

So given all those parameters, what is the next death metal band I should check out?

That's probably why it's my favorite BT album. There's something raw and fresh about the sound. It's thrashy, but heavier and messier than typical thrash. I like other albums of theirs, but there's something relatively monotonous about the others I've heard.
