One of my projects is working on a Virgin Steele cover so what better time to re-visit their massive discography. I really do think that they are one of the most under appreciated metal bands of their time and one of the few that managed to maintain their relevancy and put out some of their best work throughout the 90s and the early-mid 2000s.

Finally found a rip of this so I'm not tied to my cassette player or computer to listen. Already have a walkman on the way but oh well.

Isn't Images and Words or Awake their most acclaimed anyway?
Yeah, but I've had cases where I didn't recommend a band's most acclaimed stuff and it worked out. Besides, When Day and Dream Unite isn't talked about enough. It's kind of overshadowed by those albums.

I'm no huge defender of Nirvana and I do think they're overrated, but @H.P. Lovecraft you like some stuff that is so much more worse than Nirvana, like Marilyn Manson for example and let's not forget that you hate The Cult is Alive and onward era Darkthrone to a degree that I consider irrational.
My question is why anyone would think that the blatant nostalgiawank that Fenriz is spearheading in Darkthrone now is actually worth anything when you could just listen to bands like Enforcer or Wolf since they do that FAR better.

How Fenriz believes he's championing "classic metal" with every album he's done after FOAD is a load of horseshit. "Hey, guys. Remember this? Remember HELLHAMMER, guys? REMEMBER CELTIC FROST? REMEMBER MANOWAR? Y-you see how KNOWLEDGEABLE I am?". Darkthrone's music after The Cult is Alive is utterly forgettable garbage that survives purely on pretentious posturing and musical quotation with no substance to speak of whatsoever.
