Alexi Laiho vs Herman Li

2 great guitarists just please pass your thoughts on who you think would win in a guitar battle.

Alexi Laiho - Lake Bodom was amazing.
Herman Li - Through the Fire and Flames was extreme.

for me its going to be Alexi Laiho cause i am a huge COB fan and i still can't play the start of "Hate me" getting close tho.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Lol @ this thread.
and Satriani/Vai/Jari Mäenpää/Devin Townsend/MAB and countless others > Ammot
Technically probably. But Mike has some pretty godly vibrato and wah phrasing. Can't say some those players beat him in that field :p

I disagree, have you even heard Steve Vai's Wah Phrasings and vibratos? THAT guy is a god with phrasings and wahwah.

I'm not saying Mike Ammot is a BAD guitar player, i'm just saying that there are people who are technically better than him in every aspect of guitar playing. But if you like Ammots riffs more than Vai's, thats totally up to opinion and taste, because neither of them make "better" riffs.

Some would argue on this, saying that Steve Vai makes boring uncatchy riffs. Again its opinion, but honestly, he uses just as much Pentatonic(the epitome of "Catchy" :rolleyes:) as anyone else. Like, Touching Tounges, from the Sex and Religion album, that really shows off his phrasings atleast.

I think it's pretty sad that Alexi has got the reputation of sloppy. Sure, he WAS sloppy in the "AYDY-days", and on the DVD. But the latest perfomances of him has got him back on track to a very acceptable level - and I think he deserves to be recognised for that.
+ he has been pretty damn good most of his career. 4 out of 5 albums. And on blooddrunk it's getting much better than AYDY. Just watch namm 2008 and compare it to stockholm knockout. (but the music is moving away from my tastes -,- , except Banned from Heaven and Tie My Rope (the first version)).

On topic - Herman Li=most shitty. Only knows how to write one song+sloppy as hell live. + relies on studio magic (though in some perfomances, he seems okay. Don't what the fuck is going on live with the band tho)

00:50 in the Dragonforce vid is everything you need to see :lol:

That was sick, :lol:

Alexi > Herman Li

Eventhough I dont like cob much at all, barely listen to them.. I still dont know why I even moved from the AA forum to here back then :lol: but Herman Li is sloppy as beachslippers

:lol:

:lol::lol::lol:

Wii > Wi > Ri

Ding dang dong we have a winner!

If someone says that Down Deep Into Pain riff is not catchy I'll quote Mitch and tell him that he needs to tune his ears, :lol:

fred durst ftw! :kickass:

nah bodom>studioforce

:lol::lol: That was win, :lol:

Yeah, it's kinda why I said 'some' of the players heh. Because obviously players like Steve Vai are on another whole level.
