Alexi's guitar roll FAILS!

@COCOB: guess there is no point of saying anything else... i'm on your side about guitars, but people can do what the fuck they want... so if that means that they want to beat the shit out of their guitar/gear so be it... i don't give a fuck as long as it is not mine...

Well I play guitar and the guitar itself doesn't mean shit to me. It's the music that matters.
I don't like this new wave at all. I mean people who sleeps with their guitar and say:"My guitar has emotions too." That's...fucking stupid.

I would smash my guitar at gig IF I had a lot of money, but since I don't I'll try to keep it at one piece.:heh:

No one says their guitar has emotions. It's the people that have the emotional attachment to the guitar, not the other way around.

I love my guitar, and I baby it, because I want it to be in top notch condition for playing as well as look nice, but I don't pretend the guitar itself has emotions, nor do I think anyone does :p

If I had thousand and thousands of dorrars, I could do that. To a new one.
I would never do it to a guitar on wich I have used many hours on assembling and practicing on. Like my current.
+ it's a rare 93 model. Unreplacable
I'm gonna get a new neck for it though . Frets to worn down. Can't play 22nd fret.

And yeah, a guitar is stuff and wood  (very good description). Not a living thing.

agree with you both... except the thing with smashing the new guitar... but guess we went off-topic here... it's not would you or would you not smash your guitar...

as some of you remember alexi did throw his guitar on Astoria gig and from photos of his Wildchild one, he doesn't look after his guitars very well... case closed...

Breaking a guitar onstage makes you liberate high amounts of adrenaline, I don't know if is true but I once broke an old acoustic guitar after the bridge fell apart and it felt great.

I once broke an acoustic guitar that was too rusty for use and threw it to the trash box. Then this homeless man goes for it and says to himself "damn what a shame, real cool guitar got broken" and took it to himself and made something out of it. :Smug:

Breaking your guitar purposefully on stage is gay and doesn't give a very credible impression. IMO.

"Credible"? Credible about what?? About the sound you make??

Look, I know guitar players don't like the idea of people trashing their guitars onstage, I understand that. And I respect it, you think every guitar is a work of art, alright.

But come on, nobody can deny that when you go attend to a concert, you're not there ONLY FOR THE MUSIC. You don't just stand there with your eyes closed, listening and thinking "hmm Mr. Laiho seems to be developing a very unique technique", fuck NO.

You are there for the fucking SHOW. You wanna have a great time! And that's why I love Alice Cooper so much, the guy UNDERSTANDS that. He always did! Now, when you ask Alice what he thinks of Marilyn Manson, you know what he says? "I think my show is scarier AND funnier". And also: "I don't wanna play for an audience that actually forces itself NOT TO HAVE FUN at a concert. I want them to have a blast!".

Nowadays we have fucking SHIT Slipknot and Marilyn Manson doing a show with lots of effects to an audience that has grown to "behave COOL", and that wants to feel numb about everything. Cause being numb is good, it means nothing affects you, you're above everything, you're superior. Tell me if kids nowadays aren't just like that. Little self-righteous pricks you wanna punch in the face.

But rock back then, it was about ROCKING YOUR AUDIENCE. And the audience WANTED THAT, they were open to it! People felt not only the music, but the fantasy of the concert! Eddie in the stage, Alice Cooper dying and coming back to life, and yeah, the guys from The Who breaking their fucking guitars, Hendrix setting it on fire. If the show asks for it, then go for it, all in the name of leaving your audience screaming with their clenched fists "FUCK YEAH"!

Nowadays, I think people have painted themselves in a corner where they have to be overly rational about things they're not supposed to. "It's gay to break guitars onstage", hell no, as Lemmy would say "it has to be dangerous, man. Otherwise it's not rock and roll".

So personally, I don't care if someone breaks their instruments onstage. For me, I'd rather watch the band set the entire stage on fire then attend to a lame concert where everyone plays perfectly but look like zombies onstage. If I can have both, then all the better!!!!

But that is just my opinion. :)

I agree. COB are known for the hard drinking but they are professional. Alexi does well his job. He can be really silly off stage but he knows the limits between on and off stage.

Yeah exactly. He has said it HIMSELF that he never goes drunk on stage because thats jsut stupid and that you can get drunk afterwards.

He drinks on stage on the DVD, and he had about half a bottle of JD when i saw them live

^Janne does, not Alexi.

Now, BEWARE!! Long quote,

I started learning it, but had to stop due to work and study. I wasn't trying to offend anyone with that comment, just being silly actually.

Don't worry about it

I never said that a guitar has feelings or emotions. Is YOU who have emotions/feelings towards that guitar that you have to made efforts to get and which you've played hours and hours, and the one that was with you at that special first gig and shitload of more things. I don't think my beloved piece of wood with strings has feelings, but I do have towards it, both my newest RR and my old Ibanez. I would kill if someone broke any part of them.

Breaking your guitar purposefully on stage is gay and doesn't give a very credible impression. IMO.

Dunno what is going on about the crediblility part but I agree on the point that breaking your guitar/bass/keys/instrument in general on purpose is not cool.

Breaking a guitar onstage makes you liberate high amounts of adrenaline, I don't know if is true but I once broke an old acoustic guitar after the bridge fell apart and it felt great.

That is completely different that a perfectly set up guitar you use everyday and that you've had a certain amount of time an with which you've done certain things. Of course someone that gets a guitar for his birthday, uses it 3 days and then packs it again until 3 years after he/she finds it and sells it or whatever wont have any emotions towards it, but this is not the typical player.

I hope he broke it and uses his other ESPs now instead

:cry:Why? IMO his Pink ESP is really cool. Weird(you might call it gay,) as hell, but cool.

"Credible"? Credible about what?? About the sound you make??

I do agree that I don't go to a gig to watch the dudes play their stuff like a CD player, I want fucking show!! But they can make a show without breaking their instruments, which are after all their tools to make their job as musicians. Of course they can get them replaced quickly now they're endorsed by ESP and treated like gods, but still I find nothing cool on destroying their instruments on purpose.

Big thanks to anyone who read the whole stuff,

purpose of concerts are fucking rock the audience and the band fucking do anything for rock the audience. Breaking the guitar included too.. But if i have got and ESP or Jackson, i try to do not break them:)

Exactly, purposely breaking gear is stupid. Even if you "have the money to do it", there's someone else who could get a lot of use out of your instrument, and if you have to resort to shit like that to impress the crowd, obviously your music+stage show isn't good enough.

He drinks on stage on the DVD, and he had about half a bottle of JD when i saw them live

All times ive seen he drinks beer while the show. Do you get drunk of a few beers? NO!
I never said he DOESN'T drink live...he does not/is not drunk however.

I know what you meant. I just wanted be ironic. I just hate that kind of attitude. I mean you would kill for some object? That's sick man.
Guitar is just instrument to me like any other and I hope that I won't get any obsessed about it because then I'm concentrating on it when I should pay attention to music. Again it's just my opinion. I just think people should play music instead of having sex with their guitars.
