am i the only one who finds such stuff funny?

I would agree that morals and other purely symbolic concepts have no fundamental truth value, yes, but we're not talking about symbols here, we're talking about something that actually exists in fact.

ps Your thought patterns are the issue, not your surfing habits.

alright. So what is it that actually exists, in fact?

I think we can pretty much take it on faith that the universe and everything in it exist, but that's neither here, nor there, nor related to the topic under discussion, so why don't you either put up or shut up as regards your own beliefs, kid?

sticks and stones may break my bones, but ad hominem aversions to answering the question... well those just make me laugh. I'm waiting for your factual evidence on this thing that "exists", which you have yet to identify.

hint: it has something to do with your factual top 5 list. Is that the something that exists, in fact? Throw me a bone here. Not all of us are so brilliant. Does an interpretation of music, in fact, exist? Does it, in fact, have objective truths? Are those kinds of things, in fact, maybe a bit contradictory to the philosophy of nihilism?

Nihilism is the doctrine that function - rather than symbolic, arbitrary, received absolutes - is the proper measure of value. A nihilist has no problem saying "X is better than Y," provided that X actually contributes a more beneficial function than Y.

can we just get you two together, each armed with a baseball bat and get this childish fucking rivalry done with?

I am a child. Rivalries are fun. My classes are just getting started, so i have nothing better to do and this entertaining for me. There's no way he will ever back down, so i will keep making my retarded comments to get him to respond. If it bothers you don't read the posts. Scrolling past shouldn't be too hard.

"benificial"? who decides? what counts as benificial? what about benifits lying at opposite extremes? There is nothing "simple" about this "truth" of yours and you know it.

"Beneficial" is that which promotes survival and improved quality of life for all - this is ultimately the logic of evolution itself (though not conscious, as should be obvious).

how is that decided? Is that "simple"? This trail never leads to anything simple. There's a million more complicated questions behind every statement you can make on this. If it were simple, so many people wouldn't keep getting it "wrong".

how is that decided?

I believe in English the word is 'analysis', though 'observation' will do in a pinch.

Is that "simple"? This trail never leads to anything simple.

Sure it does - it just looks hopelessly complex if you're weighed down by rigidly linear thinking: in that case, all you see is the endless web of cause and effect, missing the fact that the solutions (which are all that really matter) are generally quite simple.

If it were simple, so many people wouldn't keep getting it "wrong".

Most people are too stupid/greedy/emotionally invested in failed systems etc. to think clearly and effectively, and, not surprisingly, they reach the (incorrect) conclusions that their studpidity/greed/emotional investment dictate. It's a talent and a skill, and some people are simply better than others at it (which is why historically, healthy societies have elevated those that are good at it to positions of power and kept those that aren't out of the decision making process entirely).

Why do you bother AC? He makes himself look like an idiot without you anyway.

Because i find people so rigid and stubborn and sure of themselves to be entertaining. Especially ones who have the ability to argue... no matter what corner he may back into, he has this ability to try and objectify the subjective and divert attention somewhere else. I don't actually care about convincing him of anything, i'd rather just watch the response.

Honestly, I think what the anus folks say is tremendously important. All our society is doing is pursuing the utter domestication, enslavement and eventual destruction of the human spirit. "Progress" is a river we're floating down without a rudder, and it's heading towards a waterfall. . .

Are you free from this enslavement?
