No you're not, but there are some fuckers (some of which post in this forum- great fans, huh?) that think they are cool by spreading the tracks they have, and since they don't want to get banned here, do it on another forum (which shall remain nameless). Seems some people are spoilt little children that can't wait a few days.....

I can wait (well, I can't but I'm going to ), now I'm just wondering how I'm going to afford it. Time to sell some more CDs, I think

I haven't heard anything yet except for the 2 samples. I won't download anything cause I find it to be a proof of disrespect towards a band which has helped me so much in the past years.

I've tried to expose my point of view on the Katatonia mailing list, but it seems I am one amongst a million to be against sharing the album before its offficial release.

I will wait for other samples, will try to grab the promo Cd through the Peaceville contest, as it is the only way for me to have it. And then I'll get the album when I could find a copy (probably not on the 24th of March precisely..)But I refuse to download stuffs which are not official.
It's a mark of respect towards Katatonia, that's all, no stupid ideology behind it.

Hey, I don't want to offend you but I don't think these people are fuckers just because they post samples of them here. I mean, I just can repeat myself, most of us are going to buy the album anyways so it wouldn't make any difference at all. Jesse posted that "MP3 Warning"-Thread a few days ago which I think is hilarious but I'm going to accept it. I still think that spreading around MP3s is a good thing because it makes the band to get more popular and people who like their stuff will buy the album. It's just a minority who leeches its whole life through and only has like 99% of bootlegs and illegal copies @home. I hate those guys too but you won't get rid of them by forbidding stuff.

I'm not 100% against downloading (of tracks, not full albums, there's no justification for that IMO). However, I feel 'fuckers' is an accurate term for people that leak an up-coming release and then spout off about it on the bands official forum. Same thing happened in the Opeth forum, I think it's just pathetic, but that's just me

i havent heard it yet and i want to download the album no matter what you people say...

i see it this way... If I download the album... i get a chance to listen to the WHOLE thing and then i make a choice is it good or does it suck... if it sux i delete the songs off my computer... if its good, I go out and buy the album... for example like I did for Reroute to Remain, I got the tracks from a person on the old In Flames forum here at UM and i listened to it... and then later on I(well my GF) went out and bought the album for me because I wanted it so badly(because i have to get a ride to go to a HMV, which the closest one is over an hours drive, and i dont have a ride there, anywho) yea, i did the same for Arch Enemy's album, Pain's album and Sentenced's Album(all recent purchases)

now what i want to do is get the album make a choice and give my sister a list of CDs i would like her to get me while shes in Rome, if she cant get them, im gonna try to hitch a ride to the closest HMV.

I wanted to play the samples to a friend yesterday, but they wouldn't play on his computer at all. He clicked on it, the player opened but nothing happened, even though the connection was OK.

I haven't seen any links to full-song downloads here in this forum. If I had, I would have definitely downloaded them. I understand those who are against this, like Jesse, but for me, there would be no question of whether I'd buy the album or not. Like someone said already, downloading tracks vs. full albums is a different thing entirely, and I personally wouldn't download the album for moral reasons and the fact that it would spoil the day when I eventually get it.

One good reason for me wanting to download some tracks is because for some reason, 1 out of every 10 times I go to listen to the sampler on the deadsite does it actually work. The other 9 times my server crashes and I'd have to try again. I've heard the 'Evidence' sampler about three times, and have tried perhaps around 25 to 30 times to hear it. I've heard the 'Criminals' sampler once, and have tried a lot more than that. So, yeah I'm frustrated and would like not only to hear these samplers whenever I wanted, but maybe even the songs in their entirety. I don't believe however, that I am entitled to this right. All of the music out there currently (from the new album) is out there because of the kindness of the band (or maybe the label), and people have taken advantage of this kindness and ripped them off whether they burned any number of tracks and have chosen to sell them. That's disrespectful.

I listened to the Evidence sampler and decided not to listen to any more samples. That would make the album more of a surprise and also mean more to me when i buy it.

I broke down, and listened to the samples on the Katatonia site. Now I was going to buy the album anyways, but this has just wetted the anticipation for it. Short samples kick arse, they kept me salivating over the Arch Enemy Wages of Sin release for ages...

However, I will repeat as I've said many times before (in fact, I am just going to quote this from some other board I posted it in):

Every single band discussion board has this same thread every time a new album comes out. And every time it gets leaked it just annoys me, as everyione starts discussing it over and over again, so you have all these views knocking about without anyone having heard it properly...

It's just a tad bit shit you know? Fact: Mp3's are inferior quality to CD. Listen to the cymbals, it's a ead giveaway as they while just sound like noise. Basically mp3 is lossy compression people, you LOSE a lot of information which CANNOT be reconstructed in the areas your ear is less sensitive to.

So why Download the album? Want to be the first kid on the block to hear it so that your life can seem a bit more worthwhile? Want to gain some stupid kind of playground superiority? Grow up. You can wait for an album, it's not that hard, believe me, of course, unless, it is the only thing that makes your life interesting and worth living, in which case you really need to get one in the first place.

I can understand the excitement, but it's not the end of the world if you have to wait untill the release date now is it? Just think, you can run home from the record stoe, CD in sweaty little palms, read the booklet and drool over the artwork on the way home, jump onto your bed/couch/etc place the disc in the player, sit back and let months of anticipation out in one musical release. Bit like a good wank really C'mon people! It's one of the best bits of getting an album by one of your favorite bands!

And again, I challenge anyone to come up with an argument that doesn't sound selfish, self-centered or the like to justify why they need the album before it's release date. Wanky music-should-be-heard-when-it's-ready arguments not accepted. Music is ready when the album is put out on general release.
