Hey folks, I see the threads questioning the possibility of an American tour. Recently I posted in the "old school" forum about tickets going on sale in my area, which they indeed have (I bought mine the moment they did). Here's the link to the club, the show in May 11th.

I spoke with someone at the club and they assured me that, yes, this was "The Saxon.."

Also, when I heard about it on the radio (it was anounced only two days before onsale. Lucky I was listening, I never listen to the radio anymore. Anyway, the played Power and the Glory and said this was an extension of the NWOBHM tour.

As to it all being legit, I can only say that I've seen shows at the club before. It's descent sized etc., and they get lots of national/international acts. Why there are no other shows listed on Saxon's site, and why these are onsale here with no other shows yet announced, I can't say.

I can say, though (again), that I got my fucking ticket! And got entered to win a meet and greet (fingers crossed). The show is about 20 minutes from my house.

thanks for posting here on the 747 site whiz, i actually had a post up asking if anyone knew anything here as well. So far we just have your show that anyone in the US knows about.... hopefully the next month or 2 will bring some more light. What sucks is how ,or even if , Biffs recent tragedy will effect that show and any other US shows, I gotta believe they will do their best to support LionHeart as best as they can . We gotta believe a full US tour is coming right know its just up in the air. If you hear anything about that gig or anything wlse please fill the this site in on it

Absolutely I will! I hang in the old school forum a lot....but am a mammoth Saxon fan. Lionheart kills incidentally.

As to the possibilities of cancellations etc., I figured going in that the show here might get aced. Still, no way was I gonna not buy a ticket. $25 ain't bad, even if they cancel. There is a month hole in the schedule where they could be planning on hitting key cities here, so I'm hopeful. I think Biff is a real hardcore guy, so I do think he'll be sorted out in time enough to make the US shows, of which I definately presume there are more. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd put money on at least 15 to 20 American shows in that hole in the schedule. We'll see. If they come close to my area twice, I'll go both times. The San Francisco Bay Area holds lots of possibilities for touring bands. I've never seen them, but have been a fan since Power and The Glory.....the first album of their's I bought. Went back and bought everything else too, of course.

Saxon is the shyte!

same boat here Whiz.... ive never seen them either and ive been a fan since Denim and Leather. Hopefully this will be the year for us both

In light of just what happen to Biff and fact that hey postponed tour dates until Oct, do you really think they will play Cali? I don't think I would actually believe it unless it posted on this site, and if that is the case they damn well better stop here in Seattle:grin:

yeah Rick its pretty much and wait and see situation. The European dates postponed but how does that effect the planned not yet announced American gigs. Im sure an official announcemmant is coming soon. They probally still dont know themselves whats gonna be rescheduled and whats gonna still go on as planned. I mean All European gigs postponed may not effect The Calif shows dates we just dont know at this point

Call this my impatience but, Does anybody know which Saxon band is going to play in Fairfield. Is it the Saxon with Byford or will it be the Saxon with old members. I have seen a space in their tour for a small US tour. The club in Fairfield said in the next couple of days they will have a bio on their site that may shed light on which Saxon.

This confirms nothing more than is known (since this is the show I started this post about), but this story was posted on Blabbermouth.net.

SAXON To Play U.S. In May? - Feb. 25, 2005

According to the San Francisco Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone (web site) and the official web site of the Avalon nightclub in Santa Clara, CA, SAXON are scheduled to play the Avalon on May 11. This show isn't listed on SAXON's web site, but the radio station has announced it over the air so it looks to be officially scheduled. If it happens, the concert will mark the first time SAXON have played in the U.S. since their "Metalhead" tour, and could possibly hint at future dates later this year.

There is also a gig scheduled for The House of Blues in Chicago on May 16. Tickets on sale March 3.
