try this:
grab a (preferably rackmount) pod, v-amp, or similar modeler, as well as a signal splitter.
set it up like this:
guitar -> tuner -> splitter
side A: tubescreamer/whatever you wish -> 5150 input
side B: modeler -> 5150 fx return
set the 5150 rhythm channel to crunch, so you got two gain channels.
use the modeler for your clean sounds.
using the 2 button footswitch, you can now switch between rhythm and lead sounds (using the 5150), and by turning the fx loop on and off you can switch to your clean sound.
if you use a midi switcher of some sort to control patches on the modeler, you can set up multiple cleans if necessary.
this is essentially turning the 5150 into a 3 channel head with very good cleans. trust me, it works like a charm, and is super easy to set up.
i had my wireless and modeler racked up, and ghetto racked the TS and ab splitter. setup and teardown in a live situation was smooth as fuck. i used a behringer v-amp pro as it's cheap, and still works really well for cleans. the gain sounds are really shitty compared to a pod, but cleans with chorus and delay sounded wicked.
only downside is that you can't use fx in the loop anymore, in case you want a delay on your lead sound or something.
in that case, try a boss gt4 or similar and use the 4 cable method (google helps).
