Amp recommendations...

I've been playing for about two years now out of a shitty 15w practice amp... I think it's time for me to invest in something better. I don't want something too expensive and I'm not really big on effects. Just a good solid distortion channel and a clear clean channel.

I'm interested in the Marshall AVT50 (I haven't played it yet though). Any opinions on this amp or any recommendations that are worth looking into (I don't really wanna spend more than $500)?

Dude, I wholly recommend the Marshall AVT150. Its similar to the AVT50, but obviously, more nuts, and more bells and whistles. But, if you wanna stay under $500, the AVT50 is a worthy choice.

personally i think every marshall i've ever played through sounds like wank. but they are the most popular amps in the world so i must be missing something

good solid distortion can be gotten out of a laney head like a GH series with a 4x12 cab. There really is no substitute for separates and if you can possibly get them then you should do it!!!
