Hi, another poll, in fact this is the first time I try this kind of game, so I wanted to focus on lead guitar with amp sims on a metal mix, so here we go:

I used an Ibanez RG320 with DiMarzio pickups.

About the lead, there are two tracks, I think both L14/R14 panned.

Now the impulses: nevermind, I tried to choose the best one with the ampsim each time, but it was often the same one at last...:p

Sorry if not any amp has the same volume as the others ;) (I know I could have done better, first try !)

So ?

-EDIT 05/25/2011- I told the answers several posts below so, newcomers, you can still make your choice without seeing these ! ;)

The best ones are 4 and 8. I bet these are: nº4 Kuassa Amplification Cream (with some fx obviously) and nº8 Overloud TH-2.

It sounds like you switched from the bridge pick up to the neck pick up a little after halfway. The first one sounds unbelievable, I'm dying to know what you used.

7 is probably worst here too. I vote for your fingers though :p I always get shit lead tones because I'm not that good at lead playing.

Anyway, I voted 8, although most of them (I'd say 7 and maybe 5 were lacking, although volume was different on them, so that might have something to do with it) were good, although maybe a tad muddy in my ears.

(nice to see I actually hit one of the 2 most voted options)

Hey, glad to see this little poll is alive !

I will give the answers at the end of the week, I think.

Please wait a little more !

PS: thanks for the kind words about my playing ^^

I used DiMarzio Dual Sound (bridge) > It's a Super Distortion pickup with Single Coil Option (but never used single coil on this lead) and Air Norton (neck) > great smooth pickup !

(anyway, someone asked me about my pickups on this thread, but it seems his post has been deleted)

Here are the answers !

So the great winner is...(as of 15 May 13th, 2011)

Nick Crow 8505 !!! :dopey:

Capture of the results (20 votes):

Here is the full list:

1 > Nick Crow 8505
2 > Kuassa Creme
3 > Lepou LeXTAC
4 > Mokafix NoAmp
5 > Kuassa One
6 > Lepou SoloC
7 > Overloud TH1
8 > TSE X50 Beta3

Funny to see the first and second choice are 5150/6505 emulations.

In addition, I must say Overloud TH1 has been a main choice for me recording lead guitars, but it seems nobody liked it on this poll...(anyway, I like playing with this amp sim, but maybe I should not have voted for it just listening to...).

For now, my personal main amp sims choice for lead guitar are Kuassa Creme, Mokafix NoAmp and Overloud TH1 :D

Next time I will make a poll, I'll try to spend more time on volumes between tracks, sorry again !

For now, tell me your comments about these results ! ;)

Thanks for the poll. Nice to see how well the 8505 did, being older than most of those other ampsims. However, I'm not surprised with how well X50 did :)

Ok, so I figured out some of my tracks were made with custom chain on Reaper, some with one impulse or the other (principaly Alu's FRAMUS sperimental pack impulse or Catharsis s-preshigh), some with Tube Screamer before amp plugin, some (the "all in one" plugins) with built in delay and reverb (and built-in impulse I see ah ah)...It's like a big mess !

So I decided to make this last raw attempt, each with the same chain, except the amp sim of course !

So, first, here is the chain:

-Kjaerhus Audio Classic Delay
-Lexicon LexHall
-ReaGate
-ampsim
-Poulin LeCab v1.0 with Alu's FRAMUS (sperimental pack) impulse with LPF at 9.00 Khz

And here are the stem lead tracks :

(added the dry tracks, you can notice evident overdubs on track 2, bastard of me ^^)

Less sexy, isn't it ? (this is exactly what I'm saying to myself everytime I listen to stem guitar tracks of famous songs ripped of Guitar Hero Activision game !)

See ya !

I think they all sound pretty good (the reverb/delay is very nice), but I still like the X50/8550/Lepou amps the most.

...which is a little weird, since they're freeware while some of the other aren't. Then again, no AT/Revalver here so you really can't draw a conclusion.
