Amplitube 2 crap......

so i forked out sbit of money thinking it would wicked! but no..


i spent hours fiddling with the setting and amp settings and everything.. and my recordings still sound like shite....

does any one have any good setting or anything?

I wouldn't be so fast at pointing the finger at Amplitube.
Sure, it isn't as good as the real deal. But it does net results that are far from "crap".

What's your signal chain?

Also, I notice you say "still sound like shite". Do you mean that you've been having trouble with recorded guitar tone? I have no clue how much experience you have with recording guitar, or mixing in general. but I know when I first started I had unrealistic visions of what guitar would sound like when solo'd. What really matters is how it sounds in the mix.

I don't know, just some thoughts.

I've got some decent results, but nothing great. Nothing better than "yeah, it sounds ok for a plugin", actually.

Off the top of my head, try using the Rectifier model, but put the free Guitarsuite Tubescreamer plugin before Amplitube, and disable the built-in cab modeling. Use Guitarhack's impulses instead.

I really don't dig the tone. IMHO Revalver MKII beats the crap out of it when speaking hi-gain tones.

Thanks! I still prefer RevII, though. The clip I posted sounds scratchy and the palm mutes are too loose and undefined, no matter how tight I tried to bash them

I find that most guitar amp emulators can sound decent when playing slow and medium tempo stuff, but when it comes to shredding and fast palm mutes, emulations are still a helluva long way from sounding as good as a well done real thing.

You can make it sound real nice..first off, use a ts9 pedal tracking into it. Dont use the speaker emulations in it, use impulses...also use an EQ pedal in the program to boost highs. It can sound good, you need to tweak it.

I used

esp viper (active emgs) - ts-9 - 5150 - and tested it with the following

1 amplitube cab sim

2 impulse (guitarhack mesa)

3 impulse (burny krank)

no shit the amplitube 2 cabs actually triumphed with this set-up, the sound compared to the impulses
is dead crispy and fuller soundin, but again depending on what ur feeding into the cab emu/impulses
your going to get different results but id def never recommend using the pre amp emulations that
come with software programs such as amplitube 2, guitar rig I think thats where they fail


anyways ill def post this clip later on tonight and you guys will hear what im talking about
maybe this will encourage more people to give this a try and change ur opinion on amplitube 2 being crap.

Before I post presets - let me say that I've found that Amplitube sounds best when paired with impulses. I don't like their cab sims as much as the impulse I made of my Mesa cab, for example. Maybe that bit of advice will help some of you.

as promised here the test, krank impulse sounds rather good but im still sticking with the amplitube cab sims for the best sound definetly the fattest of the 3.

anyways proof here that amplitube cab sims r pritty damn good erm pitty about the pre amp head emulations though.

it's 1x amplitube L and 1x amplitube R (Gibson Les Paul Studio -> Firepod Instrument input) used with the ala_sneap Harley Benton impulse and some eq

Happy A2 user here, with guitar hack impulses and C4 on the bus. Samples soon.
don't forget to set Amplitude 2 to 64 bits sampling, there's a little bottom on lower part of the program for your preferences.
