im recording a band and they want to use their metal zone distortion pedal and their also using guitar rig. do i just plug the pedal into my interface and just set it up going into the clean channel of one of the heads? or do i do it with just the cab?

If there is anyway to sway them from using the metalzone then do. If you have to use that then yea, setup a clean amp and use it as a stompbox.

yeah i think that was the name of the pedal. i just remember it was a distortion pedal

would it just make it too fuzzy for recording?

i think their looking for a pop punk type tone too

wow id never work with any body that told me what guitar chain we had to use. your never gonna get a good sound out of that you would be better off spliting the guitar before the metal zone and taking a di to reamp later this way atleast the guys in the band think they used the pedal and you dont end up with a shit guitar tone on your resume

they never said it was a must have they just said they had pedals and i asked which one and that was one of em

but i think i might just do the di idea

dude, if your using guitar rig, the metalzone is in there, and to be quite honest, if you're set on using either of those, use the skreamer or the transamp set for *calif* setting cause they'll work tonnes better

alternatively, you could just get a couple of the free ampsims from on here and show them how it would sound using awesome gear

it is the best I reckon...

how many bands do you reckon would record using their zoom/digitech pedals if given the chance

In that situation, by all means. But as a generalization....lame. By all means let's make every band on earth record with a 5150/Recto and Slate samples.

when you advise me not to use the pedal is it just because that pedal is garbage or do analog pedals and ampsims not go well together?

Metal Zones can be quite good actually when used as a boost, Pat o' Brien and Rob Barrett from Cannibal Corpse do it. They have a ferocious sound going on.
Depends if the guitarists know what they are doing with the pedal, for distortion purposes though they aint the best but then again, most distortion pedals are shit.
Reamp when they aint looking ha ha!

Oh yeah, by all means, i only mean it in this case, i'm not a pod/slate user

I mean theres a fine line between making sure they're not using turd gear and making them sound the same
