And Justice for ALL...Bass drum sound

damn, just listened agai to it (first time in year)...I always forget how much Lars sucks at the drums ;)

the snare sounds like the bottom-mic was compressed heavily with the wrong settings....
man.....
I remembered this being a kickass recording....I was so wrong!

still like the songs though

WTF? Lars sucked? What makes you say that?
The playing style on that album is unique in a positive way.
He has a unique style which for me (and I'm a drummer myself) makes a good drummer. And he was quite tight back then, just look at some old material...

i couldnt see myself using this coin trick, although i have before used a virgin 'gift voucher' with 99p left on it.

i just make sure the drummer is using wooden beaters (my preferance) and he kits hard. make sure the kick is perfectly in tune and i sometimes aim an SM57 at were the beater has impact on the skin and phase flip it. i have also used a Sennheiser e604 before too and they have been quite effective.

as for the pedal itself, i'm loving the Gibraltar 9611SD-DB Intruder. the power drive responce speeds up the beater as it gets closer to the skin making you kit harder with little effort, their realy comphortable to play as well. my drummer just got one! awsome pedals

Lars didn't suck because I think that maybe another could have sounded weaker, at least on that record the kick is consistent as well as the snare, considering there are no samples if I'm not wrong.
Oh and that stupid tale about Neil Peart recording the album..... just bullshits lol, I read Neil was to be choosen to be the producer, then they opted for Flemming.
