As for the OP's question
Try get a sample made by a D6 (Lasse uses them all the time), and experiment with compression (eg. 3ms attack, keep it short, release as long as possible without skipping hits). Keep in mind that the mix affects the kick's tone a LOT. Something really clicky when solo'd can sound really squishy (like this kick) in the mix.


If you can find the samples someone posted from various metal albums, have a look at the Nightwish and Children of Bodom ones. Only single samples but should get you on the right path.
