I love this kick drum sound but as much as I've tried to mix/model something like it, I never even come close. Any suggestions?? I'm using the Waves Mercury Bundle and Drumagog with Steven Slate drum samples.

A good sample like Slates will do, but if you're pirating then do the right thing and delete that shit and get one of the awesome free samples avaliable around here. Then, mix it really good. That's all there is to it!
Download Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/download.php)
Get the Classic Plugins (http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-series.php)
Get the Gvst plugins (http://www.gvst.co.uk/gclip.htm)
Download all the free Voxengo Plugs and buy the cheap ones if you can afford it (http://www.voxengo.com/)
That will get you set for the most part. Once you use these tools and get good with them I guarantee you won't even use the Waves plugins anymore.

Well no I was more saying like that basically with the wealth of insanely good sounding drum samples put up by this community, there's no excuse for pirated slate snares.
)I didn't think the Slate stuff was pirated? Mostly because of the DAFS system.
I wouldn't personally want to be the dumbass who posts a torrent of SSD using the discs he either a) bought or b) borrowed.
