Just listening to Dragonlord - Rapture and the 2001 version of Testament's Into The Pit.
I think the Peterson/ Vojno / Bergstrand production/mix on Dragonlord sounds almost identical to your work on the latest Testament outputs.
The only thing that bugs me on Into The Pit 2001 is the relatively thin snare sound compared to the Dragonlord snare sound.
Lombardo's snare sound on Testament's The Gathering seems to sound thinner on fast songs like D.N.R. and more voluminous on slower songs like Hammer Of The Gods, too.
So, is it a matter of the producer's/ mixer's ear?
Or is it a matter of personal preference of John Tempesta and Jon Allen?
Or is it an equipment thing?
Or all of the above?
