Andy Sneap talks about the Kemper Profiling Amp

i would imagine andy is using the same real tubescreamer in front of the kemper as with the amp.

the 'green screamer' on the kemper sounds close but has a thinner low mids and a slightly different pick attack (at least than both my OD808 and TS808 clone).

Well it's definitely not 100% thats for sure. Good enough, yep! I could hear a clear difference on a pair of crappy headphones in the office earlier. But also, thats not to say I could call them in a blind shootout - I've been hearing axe tones lately which sounded more dynamic than the amp they were A/Bing against lol.

Has someone recognized the new monitors?

Well, easy test. Pick up Accept or Testament album and try to find that "punch in" riffs that are recorded with Kemper.

Has someone recognized the new monitors?

I think these monitors are not there permanently because I already saw some other monitors in different clips from his studio, like KRKs etc (besides his usual Genelecs and Yamahas).
But also, If you look closely to this video, you can still see Genelecs in there behind the computer monitor.

These look like JBL's but I'm not sure.

I'm not saying he's lying but:
1- I can hear too so if I hear it's not 100% accurate (from the youtube video), to me it's not 100% accurate
2- It's a commercial/endorsment video so...

Don't get me wrong, I agree that they are not 100% identical, I'm just a bit surprised by Andy's statement. On this clip the Kemper has less low mids, sounds under-gained compared to the real amp, is a tiny bit more "honky" (maybe due to the gain being lower to the pick comes out a bit more) and the highs are not exactly as smooth. Still that's very VERY fucking close and not something that couldn't be fixed somehow (by maybe sending a higher signal to compensate for the loss of gain, Eqing a tiny little bit here and there (80, 600, 12000)). Seriously I'm very impressed actually, nearly sold... Now if the "profiles" included in the amps are good (or if we can download some), then I'll order one in a few weeks for sure.

I think the kemper would be all right to temporarily replace your mic/cabs if these are broken or just sounding bad, and even cooler for guitar tone newbies who want the presetz or don't own a studio (judging by some clips i've heard over the internet)... also Andy said it's pretty accurate not identical and that clip doesn't make a fair comparison, it would be a more fair comparison if dual tracked panned left right and in a mix IMO. I think the kemper captures the sound very well and it would be great to have in your studio just in case.

Pretty close. Agreed with Jeff's and Bretts' comments.

Pretty cool though..

BTW, Andy is looking AMAZING! He just looks WAY healtheir, thinner and more vibrant than he did a year or so back...NOT TO MENTION: forwhatever reason, the master Andy looks like 10 years younger in this video.

I do believe he has found the fountain of youth on his farm, of all places.

So it creates an impulse response of your guitar-rig 'system' and stores it in memory?
Handy, for sure.
