Anette

Welcome to the board!

This news is a few days late, but Anette has decided not to release her solo album. She wants to spend the time during the hiatus with her family instead.

Today Anette released big happy news on her blog.

While this news explains a lot, it may also bring up some new questions and doubts about the future. But I don't believe that this will affect the band because they'll have plenty if time to make plans for the next tour. They have said already that the touring schedules won't ever be made so hectic as they were on DPP-tour.

Congrats Anette & Johan! :headbang:

News;=)

My dear blog readers and also Nightwish fans;=)

I have held a little secret for you all for some time now, but today I feel I want to share it with you all. As you all know, I am very private and dont want to share to much about my personal life, but due to some speculations and since I am so happy I have decided to tell my secret:

Last autumn in the middle of my demo recordings of my solo album, I started to feel very, very tired and also nauseated. I took a pregnancy test and guess if me and my bf was really surprised to see that I had gotten pregnant. Since I had decided to not have any more children than my son, it was totally not planned, but after the very first shock, it felt really, really good;=)

Now I have almost done half the pregnancy and I am feeling extremely good, but its due to this I decided to not do the solo this year. I am sure you all can understand this decision better now and I do promise to release the songs at another time;=)

If you want to read an exclusive interview about this in finnish, go to www.rytmi.com
For those of you who are not finnish, here are the same interview but shorter version.

- How does it feel to have a baby after so many years from the first one?

- I had decided to not have any more children due to the fact that my last pregnancy was very hard and filled with hospital visits and a hard delivery. I also had big problems getting pregnant the first time so I really didnt think my body could do it one more time, especially since I am 38 years old. Now when faith stepped in and I am pregnant after so many years (my son is turning 9 when the baby comes) it feels as a good timing. My son is really looking forward and he can be that big brother who can help me a little bit more than if he was 2;=)

- Tell something about the schedule next fall, are you able to keep any mom-vacation or do you have to get to work soon? How is that going to happen, if yes?

- Well, I do have to go as soon as possible to Finland for rehearsals with the boys after I have delivered my child and then we´ll stay there for a couple of weeks working with the new songs. After that the album will start to be recorded but since we always record all the instruments, orchestra and choirs before I go in and do my vocals, I dont have any big pressure to do anything in the fall. I will of course go and visit the recordings when it feels ok to do so, but otherwise my recordings arent gonna be happening until 2011 at first. The solo album I had planned to release this autumn was something I felt couldnt be done due to me having my child, so I will wait with that and do it in the future instead.

- Having a baby in you age is different than giving birth when you´re on your twenties. What plus-sides do you see about having a baby around 40 years?

- I had my son when I was 30 and I am happy I waited that long to be a mum and this time I feel even so much more at ease in the whole process. I am not stressing over the pregnancy like I did the first time. I am enjoying it much more and I am not so obsessed with that my body is changing and growing as I was then. I also feel so blessed to be able to have a child at my age, it gives me a feeling of youth and the thing with turning 40 seems very easy. Being a mum is truly a wonderful thing and now when I am older I enjoy it so much more and of course it´s a big change to have a small baby again after the easy years I have had with a son that is able to take care of himself. But at the same time, it feels like I will feel younger much longer now, seeing another child grow up.

- How are you going to handle the upcoming NW-tour?

- It will work out just fine. We have all decided that the last world tour was to intense in the planning and we will take it a bit easier this time. Planning is everything and I have a great father to my baby who will take care of her/him when the day comes and I also have a nanny who can come with me if that is needed at some points. I dont stress over these things cause I know everything is gonna be just fine. The last tour was so hard and still it worked out with my son being at home.

- If you want to say something else / courage other performing artists and/or adult women in these questions... whatever comes in mind :)

- Having children and having a career can work out really, really well. There should never be anyone telling you that you cant do it, cause you can!

Tarja was an ideal singer for Nightwish, her vocals was perfect with the music. Anette is a charming woman, and a good singer, I like Eva and some other songs but when she tries to sing their old songs it becomes clear that they need Tarja back...
I wish Anette all success with her new baby.

I don't particularly dislike Anette, but I think shes a little too.......cheery for a metal band? that sounds a bit wrong as I don't think metal people should be angry all the time..but..I don't know, she just doesn't fit to me..

I like her voice ok.. maybe I just liked the classic Nightwish, the way I found them

I think they both have their flaws, and combination in the vein of Simone Simons would be ideal.

Anette doesn't have the raw power Tarja had (Ghost Love Score, Wishmaster), whereas Tarja could not sing in a standard pop/rock voice to save her life (BBB, Romanticide would've sounded better if done in that style)....now, songs like Dark Chest of Wonders, where it alternates between power and pop/rock kind of suffer from this (it's one of my favorites, too :p ). As to who I prefer....as a whole, I like Anette better, but currently I like more songs from the Tarja-era simply because it's 5 albums VS 1 album....there's more material TO like.

That's a good point, it seems that people are so focused on "Anette" or "Tarja" eras, that in fairness to Anette, she just doesn't have as much material. Even Tarja has enough material to split it in whether you prefer "Tarja with Nightwish" or "Tarja solo/guesting on someone else's songs".

I would just like to see this next album showcasing more of what Anette can do as a singer, as it's common knowledge that DPP was pretty much fully written before she even joined the group. So in a lot of ways, many of those songs were written to fit different styles of voices. This time Tuomas will actually be sitting down to write songs with her style of voice in mind. So hopefully with this album, people will be able to judge Anette's voice a little more fairly, as this is her first "real" album with Nightwish, meaning as a full-time member, not the "new girl" anymore, someone who has toured and lived with them for years now and has carved out a place within the band. So I am looking forward to hearing how it turns out.

I grew up listening to Nightwish so without a doubt the image of Nightwish in my head is Tarja with all the guys. Do I like Anette? Yes, but not as much as I like Tarja, but I am working on it.

I know that many people, including myself do try to compare Anette and Tarja, but I don't get what the fuss is all about! I heard people say "it won't be Nightwish without Tarja". That I totally disagreed with! It won't be Nightwish without Toumas sounds more reasonable isn't it? =) In the end we, as fans will have to make our choice, though it wasn't easy for me. It's really feel strange with Nightwish without Tarja.

Welcome to the board.

I understand what you mean; I'm sure if you go through earlier posts at this forum, I was not always gung-ho about Anette myself. There are still some things that I don't think I'll ever get completely on board with. Yes, Tarja-era Nightwish was what first got me in the band, but it's Tuomas' songwriting that kept me one even after Tarja got fired. And really, even Tarja isn't her "old self". Her solo album was a huge disappointment to me. In a lot of ways, neither entity is quite the same without the other. Anette has been great for the band in many ways, but there are a lot of other things about Nightwish that are forever lost because Tarja is not there anymore. Likewise, there are certain things about Tarja's solo material that will never resonate with me quite like the stuff she did with Nightwish.

First of all thank you for welcoming me C. =) I, too was disappointed with Tarja's solo. When I heard her side project with Martin Kesici all I had in my head was "what the heck?" And I tried her solo album but I always ways ended up put some Nightwish songs from her "era" on instead.

I don't really like the way the guys kicked her out tho. It must have felt like someone was slapping her on the face when she opened that letter and found out what it was all about.

One thing I will probably be bragging about it my whole life is that I saw them at their last concert at Hartwall Areena and look back, it felt like they really gave their performance of a life time, like they knew that it would be the last time the 5 of them are on stage together. I'm gonna go and put the DVD on now =)

Frankly, I think that Yoko Ono could sing a Holopainen composition and it would sound good. Just can't go wrong with his music. That said, I do prefer Anette. Tarja was unbelievably talented, and in a classical setting I'd love her voice. But I like how emotive and palatable Anette is, and, more to the point, Nightwish can work with her. That alone makes her ideal.

This has been discussed here many times too; yes, I do think that Tuomas had serious communication problems, considering how both Sami and Tarja were fired from the band. I guess this is why I never really "took sides" in this situation, as I'm sure there are things on both sides that could have been done differently or better. There is never a "good guy" or "bad guy" in these situations. :(

You're probably right, but then again, Yoko could take a Holopainen composition and make it sound like sh*t because she just has that ability to make everything sound crappy.

A child is born.....

Dear blog readers and Nightwish fans:

It is for me so wonderful to tell you that yesterday, July 30th at 16.28, mine and Johans son was born;=)

He was 52 cm tall and his weight was 3930 gram.

We have tried to get him out the natural way since tuesday and used different methods, but like with my first son, I didn´t get enough strong contractions so it was decided to finally get him out through a c-section.

We all are just fine but still in the hospital where we are resting and just being so happy to have this beautiful and precious boy with us. Life is so wonderful and I am so, so happy and just floating with joy;=)

Enjoy your evening!
