Thanks for the link. I saved it b/c i don't think your post will survive the night

I think it will survive. It's been posted here before for people to listen to what Madsword is about. I used to go there everyday last year during school to get my fix of Symphony X on the school computers. Thanks to that site and the evil mp3s, it got me obsessed over 3 new bands I've never heard of (Shadow Gallery, Madsword, and Fates Warning).

Yea I can relate. P2P programs have actually promoted the bands I listened to. I listen to tracks and if I like it I buy it. You should only buy albums if they are good. (Then again, I have st. anger :Spin: )

Ever since I got into prog I found it harder and harder to find tracks from bands using P2P programs. That is why the list of prog bands I listen to rarely expands.

I have not heard any pieces from them yet. You have made me excited now, but I am in school and won't be home until 11pm

Angra is one of the best power metal bands out there. It's the kind of band that makes you glad to be alive, because if you weren't you wouldn't be listening to them.

Any of you listen to Orphaned Land? They are nothing like Angra or Conception.

Their last disc Mabool was real good....

I DO I DO! ORPHANED LAND ARE BEST! I would really love to see them live. Symphony X, Ark and Orphaned Land would be my dream show.

Not much chance of it ever happening though, especially since Ark are pretty much over now anyway :(

Okay, so I'd never heard Angra before, but I always heard great things. I went to their site after I noticed them on Prog Power.

HOLY SHIT!! WHY have I not been listening to these guys? I'm in neoclassical-power HEAVEN!

Rebirth would a nice album to start with. Edu Falaschi's debut, right there. \m/

I envy you guys for being able to go to PP. T_T

Angra are playing in Australia in 2-3 weeks :)

Conception will be awesome for u lucky fuckers that get to go.

I think Orphaned Land are a touch overrated....i didn't think Mabool was that special. Not bad but not the supreme shit of last year by a long shot.

I would welcome your opinion as to what was the "supreme shit of last year"..Do you care to share this information?

Thanks...

My top 5 albums of last year were

Ayreon-The Human Equation

Pain of Salvation-Be

Into Eternity-Buried in Oblivion

Mercenary-11 Dreams

Mattias IA Eklundh- The Road Less Travelled

You're welcome....

I'll second the hard-to-find songs comment...I'm trying to find some Freak Kitchen....I've heard that their guitarist is REALLY good.....and amazingly, even Devin Townsend Band songs are hard to find.....

By the way, Angra rocks, as does Shadow Gallery...I got into them by buying Tyranny at an FYE...even their first CD without Gary Wehrkamp is cool...and they are releasing a sequal concept album to Tyranny May 30, 2005!! I can't wait to hear it....Speaking of new releases, Kamelot - The Black Halo RULES!! I kinda DL'ed it.....

I've read nothing but good things about the Mercenary disc and have avioded it because of their previous disc that is reduced to collecting dust in my holder. Do you have that disc and if so how does it compair to 11 Dreams?

Interesting that you included the Eklundh disc. It seems that very few people have heard of his stuff and thankfully I have!

Also the new Mars Volta has a few songs that I pass on but the rest of the disc is exellent!

So far the biggest areas of interest I've gotten for Angra are Philly, NYC, DC, Chicago, Cleveland. Any others?

Couldn't it be Shaman instead? I'm ready to mortgage the farm to go to Brazil just to see Andre and the band !!

Sorry. I love Shaman and Andre too! However, Angra is doing PP and has been planning on coming back to the US anyway. Hopefully we can make it happen. You won't come out and see Angra? :(

Related to Angra here for PP...

Would anyone want to see them at other places besides PP too? If so, what area do you live in if you would go? If you're interested, please email me and let me know (or post here). I've been trying to put something together for over a year with them here.

Rock on!
