I find it very irritating how none of Opeth's albums seem to have been distributed here in Australia... everywhere I go I need to get it 'specially imported' for extra $$... that and the fact that they will never tour down there in this life time

This is in NZ currency, so $56 works out at roughly $25US. I have no idea if this is a good price in the US, but whatever currency you're working in $50 is $50, it's still alot!! I could save a bit of money doing mailorder from another country, but that's a hassle, takes planning and a credit card, and I like to just wander into a shop when I feel like it and pick something up.

Most Opeth do have release local distibution. The candlelight discs are through Modern Invasion. It's a smallish Melbourne company so the CD's usually retail for about $30. The latter 2 are distro'd by Shock which I think is Australia's biggest independent distributor. These are usually cheaper. For the cheapest of cheap check out JB HiFi in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane. Usually about $26 for Opeth stuff there.

It's just more expensive to get CD's here now because of the crappy dollar and Opeth haven't got a local manufacture deal yet I don't think. Not sure about that though.

otherwise smaller shops such as Skinny's in Brisbane and metal Mayhem in melbourne are the go. For our frinds across the Tasman I would recommend buying from Metal Mayhem. They have an excellent selection and they won't shaft you on postage. I reckon you could get discs landed for $30 Australian (less if you buy more discs at once). Easier if you have access to a credit card but they would accept money orders or even well concealed cash If you told them in advance...but you'll need to chack this). Not sure how much NZ$ this is but its a lot less than $50. NZ$ stands up well against the Oz these days...not to mention your efforts in the last cricket tour...a grating thought really! Just kidding...:)

they have an online catalogue too.

Some good places to order from the US also (a little bit specific though....small companies but fast and reliable)

I've never had trouble finding the Opeth CD's here in Brisbane. Hell, even HMV on the Queen St. Mall has a copy of Blackwater Park! :)

yourdeadgroom....hehe...unfortunatley I am a traitourous bastrd and actually go for South Africa so that series was all good for me. the most recent series against Australia on the other hand...well its better left unsaid...I'm still in mourning.

BTW,I am coming down to Wellington on friday...:)
Ahhh, but you see, that's not a problem for me as I have the two metal shops here within an hours travelling time :p

I take it you're bringing a massive "to buy" list and a ton of cash with you??? ;)

  That was a rather embarassing final series...
Are you sick of watching SA v Aus yet, man, how many damn times do they need to play each other????

We dont have a problem getting them in Wollongong, I,ve got all 5 from the local (independent) music store. Although I'm just remembering we did creat a market here, they have a big following here in Wollongong, for example everytime the new album came out they would have to order about 10 dics just to cater for all my friends (we all had to have them first day) plus enough to keep them permanently in stock. Yep the allways have Opeth in stock. oh and they retail for about $30-33 which we dont mind paying
