Another doubt about kick replacement

''Speaking about Andy, what I don't understand is "why he used a mic and a trigger if he replaces with sample 100%? He could use only the trigger signal".

I dont think this is correct, i have bounced down tracks from a couple of songs Andy done drums on and theres a shitload of overhead (snare and kick)
mixed with a triggered snare and kick, i can upload a sample of these
if you wanna hear?

i have the overheads plus the kicks and snares i could put them on seperate tracks, with the above said im fairly sure Andy does not 100% trigger the kick
actually im almost positive Andy always leaves a bit kick and snare on the overheads.

theres an interview kicking around on line and he mentiones this.

and personally a kick thats triggered 100% to me sounds crap man, u got to leave a bit of realness
and human feeling in there.

not true, sorry but this is the only actual video i could find on this technique

everything picked up on the overheads bar the kick drum (youll see why)

i can think of a few bands that have done this.

anyways maybe im going off subject a bit, but thought u may find this technique for recording kick drum pritty cool too.
