Another Mac Question (wanna buy)

I have the quad with 3,2 ghz and I also have a macbook pro with a intel dualcore. The quad is like 20-30times faster then the mbp!!!!
And I think the macbookpro with the intel dual core is faster then your old g5.....

I'd still have to pay the VAT...I'll be able to claim it back of course, but I'd still have to pay it now...don't have that money tbh
l

Buy it from another eurozone country and deduct the VAT at source.;)
You will need to call the retailer then mail your VAT details to them.
I always do this. No way I am giving the government an interest free 3 month loan.
jigsaw24.com in the UK are good and have no problem deducting VAT at source if you supply them your VAT details.

(I have mentioned jigsaw in 2 threads today. They were both about Macs. I have no affiliation with jigsaw. I just find them good)

Hey Lasse,
I own the 2010 Quadcore with 2,8 Ghz (the one you posted in the amazon link) and it never used more than 60% of the CPU even with large sessions, several dozen instances of VCC and a few VST instruments. I'm running everything native so it should be way more than enough for a ProTools HD based system. I still think the new ones will be double as fast (perhaps more) at the same price, but life's life.
The Quad has an additional 4 virtual cores so Logic, PT etc recognize eight cores and distribute the computing power.
Personally, I would ditch the 27" cinema display because it's goddamn expensive and the prices will most probably sink in the next year or two. With the saved money you could go for the 8core version or the 3,2 Quad (I somehow wish I'd bought that one) at least.
