Need Mic advice

I've been using the PR30 on guitars for a few years now, and these mics are very particular when it comes to placement.. I've found the sweet spot for most of the tones I encounter has been with the outer edge of the mic on the outer edge of the dustcap (the capsule about 1" or so from the dustcap) and about 1" from the grille, otherwise there is a lot of 3k-4k that needs EQ'd out.

Royer!! I just the New Black Nickel Finish. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/R121BN/

The first tests I did I was instantly happy with 1st mic placement without moving it around like a 57 to find a good tone.

I did a reamp with all 4 tracks of the R121 and 5150 (Red and Green L&R). The Bass and Res settings on the 5150 were very high and so its pretty low end heavy still but sounds great with little effort.

Research the Peluso 2247 for that U47 style mic. There are 3 versions, and you can easily find research on which is the most accurate to the old 47's.
And I hear the P67 from the same company, while an attempt at being a U67 is actually more of an idealized U87.

I second the RE20 for the kick drum. Instant AJFA kick tone.

yes i heard good things about that peluso shinozoku! and im gasing pretty hard for a royer as well.

i think Lasse and royer = win. (tho im a big 57 fan)

hahahahahahahaha just reread my response:

"tho im a big 57 fan".. cute attempt to make you guys feel like i know what im talking about!

i - the expert - can get good tones out of anything but i do like that silly "57" gadget you humans play with...

hahahaha anyway sorry back to topic
