Andy,

So much discussion around the latest Arch Enemy offering - I'm curious as to what your thoughts are about the allegations of the band "dumbing down" their playing style, or perhaps even being accused of selling out.

I find it amazing and quite honestly, people are making it out to be the equivalent of Slayer turning into Bon Jovi or something as exaggerated as that.

Any thoughts at your end?

Its fukin typical of metal heads. As soon as a band has some success they have sold out.

I think anthems is a great album. I love that kick sound on it.

I think its a great album also, maybe a bit different to past offerings but cool nonetheless.

One thing that is evident to me is that AoR sounds much 'darker' than, say, Wages of Sin. For sure, WoS has a very clean sound and in hindsight, I think it might be a little too clean IMO. AoR on the other hand sounds 'rougher', and it seems to do a good job in matching the intensity of the music. I really like this approach.

Do you agree? If so, was this intentional?

I think AoR is one of the most awesome sounding metal albums I've ever heard.
