Anthrax-Alive 2

It seems that there is a new trend happening among the old school metal and hard rock bands. Its called a reunion. Some are better received than others, but still, its great to see some of these bands get back together before its too late. Anthrax have put John Bush in moth balls and have called Joey Belladonna and Dave Spitz back for one more go round.
Haven seen Anthrax twice in what I would call their prime, on the P.O.T. tour and the Clash of the Titans Tour, I can say this, Joey Belladonna sounds older, wiser and the pipes arent what they once were, but hes still a presence. And another thing I can say is that Charlie and Frank are tight and can give Geddy Lee and Neil Peart a run for their money. Scott Ian is a fantastic rhythm player having honed his skills through two plus decades on the road. And Dan Spitz?! This guy might have been working on top of the line watches and not playing guitar for the better part of the mid 90s to the present, but you wouldnt know it! Hes definitely picked up where he left off on Sound of White Noise.
The record is called Alive 2, its their second live record, but isnt this a bit 70s? Its packed with a dozen Anthrax classics, anyone who saw them on the Gingatour this summer will recognize the set. One thing that Joey is doing a lot these days is talking to the audience and encouraging their participation. No, its not like Vince Neil, he actually sings the songs. You do get this old school 80s arena rock vibe from his delivery. The song that are flawless on this set are; Among the Living, Caught in A Mosh, Antisocial, N.F.L., Be All End All, and I Am the Law. Its a great live record with no studio noodling, just band and audience the way that it should be.
