Ok this is probably gonna sound lame but is Joey Belladonna back as Anthrax's lead singer? I know he left some time back and when I saw them w/ Iron Maiden in 2008 it wasn't Joey singing. But I was just checking out their website and he's Listed as lead singer. So is Joey back??

Unfortunately yes, well atleast for the 80's reunion tour thingys they doin. when thats over, who knows.

Hi welcome to the forums. There are 3 people on this forum that actually hate Joey with a passion. DMC is one of them. They are huge John Bush era fans that live and die with WCFYA and Vol. 8. So just ignore them or swat them away like a fly. We like them around here though because we all can use a good punching bag from time to time!

John turned down the bands offer to go in and sing for them again.

Joey is back and saved the band from retirement. Now hopefully Scott Ian the rest of the band can try to get back to writing quality Thrash metal again. Hopefully the power groove era of Anthrax is done

Actually if you payed attention never said i hated joey, just don't prefer his singing anymore, was a fan in the 80's and yes i like john bush. Not that i think either are overly talented but liked them both during there time, but i'm sick of this Days of our lives metal band soap opera shit. I am glad bush told them to piss off after all the bullshit they put him threw, i have way more respect for john than joey and i don't want to see either of them in the band anymore. I almost like to see them retire if it wasn't for the fact that anthrax's MUSIC not so much singers is some of my favorite and hoping we get the most brutal metal/thrash album from them ever without girly man vocals ruining it.

brutal metal from Anthrax? c'mon. after songs like 'Black Lodge', 'Nothing', 'Bare', 'Toast To The Extras', 'Harms Way', 'Pieces', 'Superhero', 'Refuse To Be Denied', 'Safe Home',... you seriously expect brutal music from them? how do you define brutal music? you probably think 'Strap It On' is the heaviest song ever written.

Justin Bieber is as brutal as it gets these days, so with songs like 'Bare' and 'Toast to the extras' they are pretty close.:lol:

Couldn't have said this any better.

POT is probably the heaviest album Anthrax has done and that has a non girly sounding Joey on it. In 1985 almost all Thrash singers were sounding girly. Joey proved on POT that he wasn't limited to singing that style of 80's thrash metal. He in no way sounded "Girly" on that album.

I'd take a girly sounding Joey era Anthrax that wrote thrash metal songs than a more alternative / grungy / generic power groove John Bush era any day of the week.

The band finally takes a step in the right direction toward going back to their Thrash roots by bringing back Joey and there are idiots like DMC that think that will make them 'girly' and less heavy

I can't wait for this donkeys who think Joey will still sound like he did on Spreading the Disease to hear the new material he is doing with Anthrax. They seem to forget the direction he was going vocally with POT.

Sometimes I wonder if these people actually ever even liked Anthrax. They want them to write a 'brutal thrash metal album' like Testament or Machine Head but that is just not their style. Go listen to those bands if you want that sound.

They might as well just get rid of Scott and Joey and bring in Eric Peterson and Chuck Billy

Joey bring them back to thrash roots? Did you mean Powermetal? There isn't a metal bone in Mr Journey! The band was thrash he was not.
PoT was a great album, But that wasn't the direction "Joey" was taking them, you wanna hear joey's direction listen to his solo albums. Even they have nothing but bad kmart version of previous thrax albums, that joey was trying to cash in on a style he had nothing to do with making.
Ya i'll take chuck billy over joey belladonna and i think so would scott.

Joey is so metal and talented, what was he doin a month before Anthrax had no choice but to bring him back for big four?

This says it all... Well atleast someone has a IRONMAIDEN shirt on, Now This IS Metal!!!!

Anthrax with Joey was Thrash Metal

Anthrax with John was NOT.

It is that simple.

You don't think every musician explorers different style of music? Do you think John Bush isn't into any other types of music than Armored Saint style metal?

I think its awesome that Joey was playing music in any form. It shows his love for music and lack of ego.

Why don't you just shut the fuck up and wait for the new material to come out. If you don't like it then you can come on here and run your mouth about how Joey will ruined the band blah blah.

You love POT??? If so do you not think the next Anthrax couldn't be a follow up to that album? You are seriously a fuckin idiot.

You should be THANKING Joey for saving this band. If you hate what it has become so much just go put on Vol 8 and go jack yourself off to death.

Exactly, and that is the underlying significance that some people can't seem to grasp.
So let it sink in once and for all.

Joey/Neil Turbin-era:
Totally and completely Thrash Metal song-material.
Thrash Metal is good!!

Bush-era:
Mostly Hard Rock song-material (maybe 3-4 Thrash songs in there somewhere)
Hard Rock fucking sucks!!

'Black Lodge, 'Nothing', 'Bare', 'Toast To The Extras', 'Harms Way', 'Big Phat', 'Stealing From A Thief'', 'Pieces', 'Superhero', 'Refuse To Be Denied', 'Safe Home', 'Cadillac Rock Box',... are sooooo Thrash Metal, these are the songs nobody can listen to without banging his head like a maniac, every time i hear 'Black Lodge', 'Bare' or 'Pieces' i have to mosh wild.

that's the reason why Anthrax have been much more popular than other metalbands within the last 15 years, their music is much better for head banging.
