QUOTE=x_OPETH_x]Actually, that 145 is totally official (i have a certificate and trophy to prove it) and that was before my new Kicker CompVRs and total Dynamat of the rear of the car. Also, those old Pioneers that i hit 145 with were only single 4-ohm voice coil. My Kickers are dual 4-ohm, so now instead of the subs getting 300w RMS each, they're running at 1 ohm (my amp is 1 ohm stable) and they're each getting 600w RMS now....
with all that (about 3 dB by doubling my amplifier power, and 1 or 2 dBs with the Dynamat, not to mention the much higher quality subs,) i'm sure i'm in the 149-151 range[/QUOTE]
Sorry you've been had, sometimes a mic is out, or boosted which happens heaps. No way would your VRs in a leaky curfed prefab box do 150 db in a sedan. Do some math- Sensitivity is at 1 wrms 86.7 every double of power add 3db to 86.7=at 256wrms is 110.7db plus an extra sub 113.7 cabin gain 12db=125.7db sound deadening 3db=128.7 loading 6 db=134.7db and maybe box fill 3db 137.7db and this is without the posibility of a further 3db at Fs (resonating frequency) as its only a sealed box, a max of 140.7 and maybe 1 db for your other speakers. This is taken from the maximum you would get from each gain. To get a true reading go to a DB Drag meet, all mics are calibrated the same and are checked often. I'm 12db down on what the max is that I could get.
