Any Big Car Stereo's Booming Opeth Out There

Dude, I need to ride with you up and down the streets of San Diego. Two decades have elapsed since the advent of hip-hop and the streets are still filled with guys who think thump-thumpin down the road is the height of originality and coolness.

My system rocks good enough, but I would love to blast "When" at some fucker at a stoplight with a system like yours.

I looked at your car but don't lie about your spl level as you just embarrassed yourself as you would only be getting 137-142 db max. I'm not rubbishing your stereo or how much you spent on it because theres proberly fuck all difference in sq anyway but just that theres no need to lie.
Actually, that 145 is totally official (i have a certificate and trophy to prove it) and that was before my new Kicker CompVRs and total Dynamat of the rear of the car. Also, those old Pioneers that i hit 145 with were only single 4-ohm voice coil. My Kickers are dual 4-ohm, so now instead of the subs getting 300w RMS each, they're running at 1 ohm (my amp is 1 ohm stable) and they're each getting 600w RMS now....

with all that (about 3 dB by doubling my amplifier power, and 1 or 2 dBs with the Dynamat, not to mention the much higher quality subs,) i'm sure i'm in the 149-151 range

umm...... 140 db is like being right next to a jet plane taking off or a shotgun blast. that volume on a stereo = permanent hearing damage or loss.

and $25,000?????????????????? jesus fucking christ. im using the system that came with my car and it works great.

you have that much money in your system....please tell me you listen to SOME hip-hop/rap/trance/etc. type music.....

I don't listen to it, because I don't like it as driving music.......you could be my favorite band and not make it in my car.....I can't really cruise to White Cluster...

I have at the moment $25,000.00 worth of stereo system in my car-I fucking love seeing the dirty looks of some tight assed, stuck up jerks when I pull up next to them pumping out 156 db of OPETH. Thats enough for me each day!!! I am planning on re-doing my stereo with about $45,000.00 of FUSION car audio (just started a new job with them-getting it cheap) as is stands at the moment its real loud but not super clean. But the bass is fucken tight and double bass just smashes you. There must be other car audio freaks out there playing death.

$45,000?

BUY A NEW CAR, GENIUS.

I can only imagine what that current system is on.....

Sorry you've been had, sometimes a mic is out, or boosted which happens heaps. No way would your VRs in a leaky curfed prefab box do 150 db in a sedan. Do some math- Sensitivity is at 1 wrms 86.7 every double of power add 3db to 86.7=at 256wrms is 110.7db plus an extra sub 113.7 cabin gain 12db=125.7db sound deadening 3db=128.7 loading 6 db=134.7db and maybe box fill 3db 137.7db and this is without the posibility of a further 3db at Fs (resonating frequency) as its only a sealed box, a max of 140.7 and maybe 1 db for your other speakers. This is taken from the maximum you would get from each gain. To get a true reading go to a DB Drag meet, all mics are calibrated the same and are checked often. I'm 12db down on what the max is that I could get.

Like I said it bangs the bass real tight but the rest of the sound needs improving. Remember the keep it simple stupid saying, this applies in car audio to if you have to much stuff you destroy signal quality, physco accoustic's etc. Which has happened in my car-looks real shit hot and cranks, but not what I was really wanting in sound. The car is a Mitsubishi 1993 Verada (Diamante) and the stereo is now 4 years old. It has a MTX RFL 15" sub with a BAGEND bass processor running 4 Fusion Jonah D class amps pushing the sub with 5000wrms at 12 volts. Diamond Audio Hex eights in the front doors, sixes and tweets in the kicks, sixes in rear fill running of three Fusion Jonah 4 channel amps. In dash I have a Pioneer in dash screen, processor and Head unit in the sun visor. Fusion 10 stack DVD in dash above glovebox and a Mstation 120 gig Hard drive mp3 in the glove box, a Fusion 10" roof mount drop screen, and a pioneer audio selector to select between sources. Plus 5 Fusion batteries and interconnects are top quality Monster Cable. But I'm selling this and buying a Mitsubishi GTO / 3000gt VR4. This is what the new gear is going into. Using some of my old stuff but mostly new-I'm only paying $7000 (Only because I work for FUSION Australia) but retail is $45000. I should get it right this time. I will be going for near impossible of loud but clear? I don't think its stupid as I own my own home, have 3 kids, one is leaving home just turned 17, I have a second family car what else do I spend my money on? I don't get into home stereo-I don't know why and I'm in my car 4 hours plus a day. End of point for me.

it's not a sedan...but fine, i'll show up at the next competition we have here, and see what i can find out about this mic they used.
And I wasn't really bagging you, but that score is way off. I still added 12db for cabin gain and 6 db for loading so it doesn't matter what car is, thats about the max you'll get anyway-make sure its a DB drag like I said then you'll know for real CHEERS

Alot of it is about what box you put your system in. My friend has 2 MOMO 12's in a ported box in the trunk of a Nissan Maxima and that shit could stop your heart. My other friend has only one MOMO 12 in the back of his hatchback and it almost equates to the double sub setup. Alot of it has to do with cubic inches of air and whatnot.

Another stereo note: Dynamat!!

I dynamatted my entire trunk - talk about tightening the sub. Didn't need any more dynamat, as a Lincoln Town Car is made pretty well - no interior vibration.
