No, really, read carefully - YOUR POSTS MAKE NO SENSE. And I'm not talking about all the stuff related to sound, I'm referring to the complete disregard for things such as spelling, grammar and punctuation which are evidently not taught in Queensland nowadays. Making use of these things tends to help when trying to put forth an argument.
@Chow Mai Dong: May I ask, is RFL's sentence structure and grammar giving you trouble in understanding the science of all of this? Sure, it's not perfect (hey, my typing goes to shit to when I'm vehemently arguing a point, and this may or may not also be the case with RFL), but attacking someone's grammar seems to be the fall back of anyone who can't argue a point. Are you going to concede it or not? Of so, then move along and feel free to attack his grammar all you want. :)

Oh, and it's never a good idea to imply that 'the smart state' is dumb. ;)

Even still, you fell flat on your face before it all begun when you said you listen to your car stereo at 156dB. Anyone who even has a remote clue about acoustic theory knows that your claim is complete bullshit.
I'm not sure know quite how this works.....

When RFL quoted 156db, it was a theoretical max for his system, I'm sure he doesn't sit there with it at FULL VOLUME, ALL DAY and even then it would only peak at 156db. When you get this far into audio tuning, regardless of what you listen to it to, you're not going to sit there and say 'I listen to my beats as 1/10 max volume capacity :Smug: ' now are you?

That said though, I WILL bet however, that like he said, when he pulls up next to someone, he really does crank it up to 156db? ;)

One assumes he's measured it too.

The point however is that he can get it up to 156db, regardless of if he does on a regular basis or not. And before you get to the 'why pay for something you're not going to use (regularily)' argument, sure, the power of this system may be slightly beyond what would be considered comfotable hearing, but if he's deriving enjoyment out of it (like so many other people do for equally strange reasons), then why is it so necessary to rain on his parade?

I mean, c'mon car audio is obviously this guys passion, somebody has to push the envelope, so why not him, can't you just say 'it's not for me' and leave it at that? In fact this guy sounds almost exactly like my brother, who is an audio nutter, and I'm sure if he had the means and the financing he'd be doing the exact same thing.

No, why would an Australian say that? Perhaps you're the only one to use it. South of your border is NSW, in case you hadn't noticed./QUOTE]

Actually, he's not. Admittedly, said comment is mainly (or should I say more specificaly?/originally)used in reference to Victorians, when stated by Welshmen (NSW to you before you decide to pick that one apart too), but it has been picking up in popularity this far north as well, and as far as most of us are concerned, south is south, we don't discruminate between you and them. ;) Or would you rather we call you Guatemalan or Belizean? Your proclivity for using semantics to 'win a point' in any way you can however, is at least rather amusing.

In Melbourne we have a term for people who try to validate their existence with a car stereo - WANKER. Seriously, I find it hard to believe you're not some twat in a Kappa tracksuit and cap saying "Opeth are fuckin siiiick, moit". Wanting to spend $45,000 on car audio is really quite sad. I don't need your wanker car stereo to feel proud of myself, and I listen to music on my relatively cheap Blaupunkt stereo for music's sake, not so I can have my vision distorted by bass and subsequently crash into a tree.
Nice way to stereotype, buddy. Oh, and he's spending $7k ($7k, RFL?) on his system. It's a $45k (retail) system though. I'd be hard pressed to spend $45k on a system too, unless I was particularily well off (as at that point I'd have a decent car too now, wouldn't I?) Hell, I'd be hard pressed to spend $7k on a sound system at this stage, but when you're (more) than getting your moneys worth as he is in his case, wouldn't you go the extra mile for something like that?

All I'm saying is that, sure, if everyone was spending $45k on sound systems for their car, that'd be stupid, but you have to admit that if the interest is keen enough and the background lends itself to the situation (ie: works in the industry, gets a 'good deal', relatively speaking at least) that there are some circumstances where purchase like this is perfectly acceptable.

No?

SPIKE You couldn't of said it better. Well maybe you could of said fuck off a few times lol. And because I said Mexican to Chow I don't mean to insult anyone else, I just got pissed at him. Funny how he basically called me a Leb in a tracksuit, cause I'm acually a sheep rooter from New Zealand, so fucken what I live in Australia, we're all Australians in one way or another? Now this arguement is finished can we get back to whos banging what from whos stereo.
