Any Opera Fans here?

I'm very fond of Opera, speacilly Puccini's!
My favourite female singer : Maria Callas
My Favourite Male singer: Mario Lanza

Right now I'm really into Bryn Terfel. I think that he has the potential to be the greatest male vocalist ever. He did a wonderful job with Roger Waters' Ca Ira and pretty much everyone wants him.

Hell yeah! Opera rules.
Puccini is great... but I prefer Mozart and Wagner just slightly in terms of opera.
My faves include: Don Giovanni; Der Ring Des Nibelungen; La Boheme; Wozzeck.

Wagner is great, few singers can fit the roles!

Uh, I wouldn't say I'm into opera, the only singers I listen to with opera/classical backgrounds are the guys from Il Divo [LOVE those guys to death!!! Saw them in concert last week], and they're more an opera/pop crossover.

Still love them though. <3

...have you heard of them? I know they're not exactly opera, but that's just the closest thing to opera that I listen to, compared to some of the other stuff, I'm mostely into metal, but will listen to anything that sounds good.

I love opera. Seriously. It brings tears on my eyes really often. I'm not familiar with names, but I like sad songs - female, soprano. I love opera - Messa by Bach.

Actually Bach didn't write any operas... Handel on the other hand wrote over 40! Messa of course is a Mass... which Bach wrote several of as well as many cantatas.

I hate Popera. I have heard them and I can't stand it.
For actual operas I would recommend: Mozart- Don Giovanni and Puccini- La Boheme for starters. For the more adventurous I would recommend Wagner- Das Rheingold.

Err, I know he didn't. I just said that in incorect way. I was listening to opera, that is consists of many parts like Sanctus, Agnus Dei, Gloria In, Et Interra Paks, Kredo, Krucifigus, Sanctus - in other words - Messa. He wrote music. And some group of artists from Germany (if I'm not mistaking) has put opera on that music... And it's actually amazing. Seriously, I was so full of emotions , so impressed that I was about to start crying right in the class . So I had to hide my face in my hands, like "oohh... I'm so tired today"

I enjoy going to operas, but not listening to opera cds, etc. For Americans, a male going to the opera with proper female escort, and knowing something about it, is a real plus for getting into the pants of the higher class nymphettes.

OK... but you should listen to Mozart's Don Giovanni. Reading the libretto really makes the opera much more interesting also.
