Just got that itch for a Fender bass. Always played active basses and i can't say im totally happy with those.
Any recomendations , tips ,or something related to these types of basses ?

They're different. They feel different and they sound different, so go play both to see which you prefer.

Personally, I prefer a P bass with an added J pickup at bridge. It's the best of both worlds, IMO, but you may prefer a J so you really need to try them out before deciding.

J-Basses are a little more aggressive sounding and have a nasal sounding character that cuts through the mix very well. P-Basses sound more "round" and much smoother. It's a matter of taste. Personally I strongly dislike the nasal J-Bass sound.

I have both, although admittedly I modified my Jazz Bass with a P pickup in the neck. Different beasts.
