Of course it is. Though you should consider just buying a new computer. Also, back up all your internet bookmarks.

good advice with the bookmarks i didnt even think of the obvious,i dont need a new computer,my hp is 5 years old but the reason i bought it was becasue it was so open to more upgrades and extensions so i new it would last me for a long time,i dont really use the computer for anything really serious where i need the latest shit.

the reason i want to uprade is because this is my first computer and i prob gave it hell lol,i now know to organise things into diff folders to keep system clean and in good running order,i am learning i guess.

ive doen it,it looks so old now, maybe when i reupdate windows it will look how it used to lol,one pro though the right hand side of the screen is about 1 centimetre gap and gap at top as well, what can i do to fix this?

lol thanks so much man,the screen was always a little out for ages,i have never been game to press any buttons on the monitor except for the on button.

i am going to get a new hardrive an upgrade to xp soon but i am having truble updating windows it keeps cming up with errors?

What errors? Write down the numbers it gives you.

You probably don't need to go as far as XP, for just a home PC you'll probably do fine with Win2k.

i think i def need to get a diff windows op system have upgraded stuff and the same stuff comes in updates,i run mellenium windows at the moment, might be easier just to upgrade to a newer setup,my computer is fucking shit at the moment its not even picking up the home page that well, fuccckkkkkkkkkkk

Windows Me is a piece of crap.

I spoke to this computer programmer guy and he says that Microsoft is all crap and that Linux is the way to go.
He says Linux crashed 4 times worldwide in one year, three of the crashes were caused by hardware. That sounds better than your Microsoft sonny. I haven't got Linux yet, but could be better than a hanging computer all the time, right? Have you guys tried Linux? Oh yeah it's also free and if you do need technical support, they answer the phone

Windows ME should have come with a match and some gas to burn your machine to the ground. Would have been faster.

Microsoft isn't all crap and Linux isn't all gold, they both have their strong suits and it depends on what you want to do and how much you know what you're doing. Most MS crashes that people bitch about as bad software on MSs part is because people are idiots and don't know what they're doing. They have some nasty code in some of that stuff, but most of it is fairly stable (especially XP, my XP only crashed twice and they were both my fault).

Or a Western Digital. They used to be good, but now they're crap. I, along with two of my friends, each had one fail in the past year.

Yes, Western Digital ain´t the way to go either. :yuk: I´ve used Samsung disks myself and they have never failed, I´ve heard some say negative things about them but they have good stats for their price.

And XP is pretty good too, doesn´t chrash half as much as old 98. W2K is stable also but a lot of software can´t be used in it.
