A reputable website or ebay seller. I need to get my fucking logic board replaced.

OR: Since it seems a new logic board's gonna run me 800 bucks as it is... if somebody knows of a good spot I could maybe get an older dual G5 or a clearance model... etc etc etc.

Thx in advance.

Call Apple support and beg nicely. Ask to speak to managers. If they are uncooperative, threaten to blog about it if they don't replace your logic board...

I've heard this can work.

Incidentally, what kind of Mac do you have?

"Threaten to blog about it," christ - I can't believe a company like Macintosh would get too worried about some disgruntled whiner rambling away in the fathomless depths of cyberspace, but I guess if it works go with it :goggly:

You know, I pulled it apart and noticed something. The model number of the logic board is one for a quad... but MY mac [a refurb] is a 2.0ghz dual.

I called Apple Care and told them their shit's wrong. The reason my board blew was likely cuz someone put the wrong board in to begin with.

They told me to bring it back into an apple store and have them verify the fuck up. Im cautiously optimistic...

But yeah, Shane, I've got the 2.0ghz powermac.

that would be sweet if it turned out that way, cause you may be able to talk to customer relations or "product specialist" and get a newer computer of "equal value" how old is the mac pro? did you purchase applecare???

p.s begging doesnt matter. there happy to help you if they can find a loop hole, but policy is policy for a reason. it would be unfair to replace a computer out of warrantee when other people purchase applecare.

its 2 years old. I didnt get the applecare.

I brought it in to the apple store. we'll see what happens.

I have the same computer. Its a quad G5. They use an IBM processor, that was when they switched the powerpc architecture from the Motorola processors. Then came Intel.
Hope they can fix it for you, even if it isnt the newest they are still sweet machines.
