Hah, that's right dudes!

Sikth is the band... the band that fucks 'em all up and down, and they make me so happy! I listened to Flogging the Horses the other day and just noticed I knew it pretty well while knee-drumming, so I set up a couple mics and just recorded a sloppy drum cover.

I'm wondering if any of you are up for covering the entire damned thing, we'd need guitars, bass and vocals. I don't expect many of you to be into Sikth but you never know... maybe you wanna try something new eh?

Here is the link to the sloppy cover with some of the music in the background:

And here is the drums only:

This shit is recorded with SM57 and SM58 as overheads, quickly placed infront of the kit haha, really ghetto style. I also miced up the bass drum, but overall the sound sucks. Anyway, It's just a quick draft of the shit... it was sloppy and I missed some of the parts, but I do know the way Dan plays this shit, so I will study it some more and play it EXACTLY like that fucker plays it.

So, any of you interested in making this thing reality? Gareth might be up for vocals... probably doing Mikee's lines, so we'd need a guy who can do the more hardcore-ish lines as well. And then guitars and bass. I don't really have time for this but I had to make an exception for this song, it's just so kickass... but anyway, it'd be good if I didn't have to be the one to mix it too.

Aaaaand I'm a "little" drunk right now so I'm really sorry if I've written anything stupid!

I'd be up for playing guitar on it. Only problem is that I will tune up to E standard, yeah ima lazy bastards, and I also need to learn to play that monster (=atleast a week of constant practicing and massive amounts of hours recording)...

Plankis, it WOULD be good to have some balls in the tone as I'm very biased already and don't believe E standard cuts it for any kind of balls in metal but I have to admit... I have NO idea what tuning Sikth is playing on that album haha.

Anyway, sweet dude, E standard or not, it's nice that someone is up for it! I guess all you need to do is make a draft just like I did and hook me up with the link. I'll record the drums "for real" when the "team" has been decided.

I love Sikth, and I'd totally be up for doing the bass for it. Need to learn the song though.

EDIT: After listening to the song a few times and looking at the tabs I've realised that it's pretty damn hard. Looks like I'd need lots of punch ins and practise :D

Also, your drums sound surprisingly good for 3 mics.

yeah indeed. :p

btw Do someone own a good tab of it? I can only find some crappy guitarpros over at ultimate-guitar. There got to be a nice powertab of it somewhere on the interwebs...

No problems dude, there's really no deadline on this so you could practise for as long as ya like... sort of :D I'm not the greatest drummer around either so I too have to practise some more to get it really tight.

Yea Gareth (TheXratedDoDo) told me the same thing about the sound haha. I just "swooshed" up a 57 and a 58 infront of the kit and pointed them down towards the snare/toms without aiming carefully etc. Also miced my kick with the regular JJLabs mics I use... which don't sound awesome but they have potential.

I love Sikth, and I have a project for this year to learn every song on Death of a Dead Day. Too bad I haven't learned FtH yet :(

im in! sikth are my favorite band, fucking love them, playing with them was like the happiest day of my life :)

but yeh i would deffo like to give the guitars a go

I'd be up for this, not sure if I'd nail it though haha... maybe with a bunch of practice. But I'd like to give it a go :) And you're a really talented drummer dude!

I replied on your PM Behindert! Mah swedish buddeeeh, I definately want you in on the guitars and we've got all the time we need so practise is no problem.

Thanks for your kind words, but I fucked up quite a few things on that test track, but I will nail it 100% by the time we are doing this :D

You've played with Sikth? Oh my god *adore* :D That is really nice, I can imagine they are really cool down to earth guys in person... hope I'm right? :)

Anyway, if you can sort it out with Behindert, how to split the guitars up, It's no problem for me. If Behindert wants to grab all the guitars for himself, I think for the convenience, I'd want to let him do it all, but if not, it's all good to go!

If all goes well, I'm up for more covers by Sikth so there should be plenty o' room for everyone :D

Fuck it, I was waiting for Behindert to post his practise track himself but I'm just way too excited about this, almost jumping up and down in my chair... or maybe not.

Here is a quick test track he did, picking out the parts by ear and I fucking love the playstyle, it's so Sikth-y! Perfect amount of "dirty" =)

As I said before, all this is just test and practise stuff, the drums were miced with 3 mics only, but still... it sounds OK for practise purposes! :D

Yeah I agree, the vocal part is going to be the fucking trickiest but Gareth said he'd give Mikee's vocal lines a shot, but in that case, we'd still need a vocalist for the other lines... something hardcore-ish I guess, like Justin does himself.

I have to say though, since Behindert has already begun practising this and picking out the parts and shit, and I like his style, he's gonna take the guitarist spot. Still have bass and vocals people, c'mon yaaauuuww!! This shit is gonna rock hard :D

LEEEEEEEEEEEET Apes roam free! (haha I love that line from Flogging the Horses)

Dan Weller and Justin Hill mixed and Mastered my band's album, (Justin did some guest vocals too) They're top blokes and really good producers that keep getting better. They've recently done the new Malefice and Viatrophy albums which from what I've heard also sound excellent.
